After almost a two year break from the FPV hobby, I find the technology has advanced. I just bought the DJI digital FPV experience combo and it is amazing. I installed the first air unit in a Kyosho Blizzard since it is winter in Canada right now. I started testing on the lowest power setting at 25 mW and found the unit needs proper cooling when used inside a closed cab. I added a heatsink and fan to the vtx and can now go to the maximum power setting with the unit remaining cool.

I also found that if the air unit is used as a stand alone vtx, meaning it is not used in combination with the DJI radio controller, the auto temp control setting must be set to "off" for the vtx to go over 25 mW. Even if a higher power setting is selected in the goggles display, it will stay on 25 mW if auto temp is not swiched to off

Here is a short clip showing the set up and flying of my mini swift. This set up is quiet for park flying but I wish for more speed. Will upgrade to a more powerfull power system later this summer.

I've been flying my skywalker since 3 years now. I still like it a lot lot, and one of the fun thing I do with it is flying between trees:

I didn't want do have the Tonka body go in the street in winter time as we use road salts over here and I was afraid it would attack the metal body that took me some time to restore and paint. The Tonka body is also pretty heavy so not all that good to ride on snow.

I decided to mod the stock Summit body to have something that ressemble a pickup truck, inpired by Woby's truck. Here is what I came with;...Continue Reading

Here is the new relay box so I can fly 1,3 ghz with my 5,8 ghz attitudes goggles. It feels so free not to be tethered to your ground station ! Also helps position the GS on a better site for improved reception when riding the Tonka Summit. Antennas can be stored inside for transport.

Big hole is for tripod handle: Placed vertically it enters the relay box to hold it. Can also add a broomstick to elevate relay box to get better signal reception.

Its been a while since I wanted to do this. We have a big walking trail in the middle of town that makes a circuit around the river, across 2 big pedestrian bridges and one smaller that leads to an island int he midle of the river.

I installed the GS on the island for best video link, wich means the truck would be traveling on each side of the river, out of my reach if a bad intend person would take it away

I finally found the courage to do it, and all went very well. Enjoy the (non edited full lengh) video:
