This is a project which came about when my Flying buddy bought a 1/3 scale fibreglass body. He wants to build with conventional ribbed wings.
Since we didn't like the selected profile on the fuselage we selected one which is well proven for a thermal section.

So I started drawing up the wings in Rhino after doing some research on the web.
Here are some photos from the humble beginnings.

I will add more content as I get spare time.

pic 1 shows the original root rib on the Fuse,
pic 2 KA fuse on a stand to fit new root rib and checking the incident in relation to the tail root.
pic 3,-4,-5 first test cuts for elevator
pic 6 fore ground base board jig for rib position, background assembled elevator half
pic 7 all parts required to build left and right elevator half. On the left the jig base board used for both sides.

On gliders it is essential to have a motor brake set on the esc, or else you are down in no time.

The glider has got a 2.2m wing span features foam cores with obechi veneer. The wings are held on the fuselage with magnets, a very nice alternative to rubber bands.

getting the balance lead in with the battery was a challenge, very little room in the front

This one is my most pressures model. That it stays that way I kept it in the box for a year. Can't do that forever so out it has come. Although a moldy, it has had me at times biting my tongue.
Now it is almost ready to go, only need to think of some space where to put the lead necessary to balance that beast....Continue Reading
