So the end of the first day of building.

This is happening around work, and other commitments, so I have no idea of the actual time this will take.

However, as of day one, the first side of the horizontal stabiliser is ready. The next side awaits.....

I do have to sand and shape the profile when the other side is finished..... Other than some filling needed, before covering, I am happy.

I have a very cheap belt sander that I am looking forward to trying out for the shaping of the profile. I will provide a video of the shaping with the sander.

I will also 3d print a simple profile gauge as well to help maintain the shape on every control surface..... I will post a picture of that as well, along with the STL file for anyone who would like to print one of these.....

So, I have decided to build an RBC Kits Hurricane.......

It is quite an intimidating build. My current experience is that I have built a Dancing Wings Piper Cub...... And that is all.

Obviously the build of the Hurricane is far more complex than the Piper Cub.

Also I am somewhat limited on space. I am building this in the living room of a fairly small house. I do not have the space for a table big enough to build the wings.

I have a reasonable size piece of MDF to begin the build, which sits on my coffee table.

When I get to the wings, I will get a large size sheet of MDF and add some lengths of 2*1 timber to keep it flat and straight.

Currently I am dipping my toe into the build by starting on the stabiliser as can be seen from the pictures. I have already read the advantages of marking the position lines on both sides of the core, and have done so.....

I have cut the stabiliser section from the CAD drawing supplied with the plane, then covered it with sticky back plastic so I can glue on it and not damage the drawing.

I have also cut the parts list out and also covered it in plastic so I can keep using it, without unrolling the entire drawing and again, not damage it....

Fingers crossed for the whole build .....
