Just drove by an old lady in the street lying on the ground in front of the curb side trash cans. Thought it was a Halloween prop but wasn't sure so I pulled over and got out. She started to move and talk. Paramedics were called and arrived quick. Appears she just collapsed and wasn't hit. Had to make sure the ambulance came since most people these days just film and don't call for help.

Be careful driving by or over something you think might be a Holloween prop.

Guaranteed in my opinion. It's not a matter of if, just a matter of when. There is no way to keep people from flying when ever they want to. You are supposed to call the airport first to check the weather, then only fly if the airport is using runway 16, then you have to fly below 200 feet. Good luck to us that use the field. We're going to need it for as long as it remains open.

The Apollo XI flying field in Van Nuys has a new restriction. If Runway 34 is being used we can NOT fly. Call 818-780-4993 before every flight you make, to hear a prerecorded message of what runway is currently being used. If runway 16 is being used, we CAN fly. I hope your hearing is better than mine as I can barely make out what is being said over that garbled intercom mic the announcer is using.

Basically no flying if the wind is blowing north. If even a mouse farts in that direction, DO NOT FLY!!! If you feel no wind, DO NOT FLY until you call that number 818-780-4993 to make sure ranway 16 is being used.

I made this image to try and make sense of what is where at the Van Nuys airport. I am no expert in reading this runway map so it might be completely wrong. Hopefully someone can confirm if I have the info correct.

Here are two wind direction sites I found to get an idea of the trend for the day. Call 818-780-4993 for the official word on what runway if being used to determine if you can fly or not.

We are halfway through our grace period with the FAA in seeing how the Apollo XI field works out. So far so good so don't screw it up by doing dumb stuff. Call that number before you fly to see if Runway 16 is being used. If it is, we can fly. Don't fly over the access road. That means don't fly past the access road either. Yes some people actually need to be told that

Last but not least, R.I.P to Tony Naccarato. He was an absolute joy to have around the field and always ready and willing to help new pilots or anyone in need of assistance. He helped me on more than one occasion in getting a plane of mine in the air for which I am eternally grateful for.

Apollo XI flying field is open again! Max flight ceiling of 250 feet.

Previous limit used to be 400 feet. Lucky we got 250 though. Curious how the new height limit will affect the larger aircraft and especially turbine use.

***If you see a helicopter hovering, even way in the distance, LAND immediately. Don't go around again, LAND immediately.***

Movement is being made with the FAA to get the Apollo-XI RC flying field back up and running. Thank you Jason for staying on top of this for us all.

Looks like they are going to make the Apollo XI flying field an AMA sanctioned field if it opens again. Please stop calling the airport, AMA and VallyFlyers while they work this out.

If the field is AMA sanctioned, the good part is...
1) We get to fly again.

Not sure if this is bad or not yet...
1) I fly VTOL airplanes. *Not yet sure if this will be allowed at an AMA sanctioned field? This is my main concern.
2) Flying there will no longer be free. You'll have to be an AMA memeber 75$ at least a year. *I'm an AMA member so no problem for me there.
3) Field will have someone there from sun up to sun down to police the field. *Not yet sure if this is a good or bad thing. I'm fine with that as long as I can fly my VTOL airplanes from the main runway. I see a possible issue with aircraft weight. Under a certain weight, 2lbs I think, you have to fly at the north corner of the field that is much smaller. It's to small for me to make a turn with the VTOL convergence in stability mode. This section of the field might also disappear if the field is AMA sanctioned?

The Apollo XI field has been around for about 60 years. New legislation signed by our president gives the FAA new power over RC flying they did not have before.

Affective May 24th 2019 the FAA suspended operations at the Apollo Field pending review of the local airspace and operating procedures.

Just saw this in the paper today.

Found this in the parking lot at the flying field this morning. I'm pretty sure it's someone's prosthetic eye.

If you know of anyone that visits the Apollo XI flying field pleas let me know or let them know what I found. I might be a spare that was in a vehicle and the person might not even know it's missing.

Location is the Apollo XI rc flying field just south of the Van Nuys airport. Images of the eye and the approximate area where I found it. It was in the first row of the parking lot, a couple car spaces south of the bleachers.

Accidentally kicked it some how while walking around my vehicle. Went over and picked up the white thing my shoe had touched and determined it to be a prosthetic eye on closer inspection. It blends in really well with the large gravel pavement of the parking lot if the colored side is facing up so I'm guessing it fell out of someone's car or was just too difficult for them to locate once it landed on the ground.

If it's yours, let me know so I can get it back to you. I also left two notes about it on the bulletin boards at the flying field with my info.

Just went there and found out it will be closing at the end of this year. They are still open but boxing up stuff.

Evett's widow has kept the store open for five years by herself. An amazing feat in this hobby business where store front hobby shops are more and more difficult to come by around here. A bit sad to see it go but it's had a very good run that she and Colby should be very proud of.

Colby taught me how to fly when I was little, for which I will always be grateful for. Let us never forget to help newcomers to the hobby as we were once helped ourselves.

Some setups for a 3 position switch that I use for my VTOL models. Posting here together so it's easier for me to find.

3 position switch and a 2 position switch. Three position flap switch and a two position gear switch.

1 channel 6 positions. One channel moves to six different positions from two switches.

They gave me a screen credit so I figured the least I can do is build a plane from the Marvel Universe as my way of saying thanks. The only question now, is which one.

Just discovered the series "Star Treak Continues" on youtube. All I can say as a fan of the original series and TNG is WOW!!!

As with TNG I didn't like it right away. It took be about an episode and a half to get used to the new cast as they have huge shoes to fill. After I got over it and just enjoyed it as it was meant to be enjoyed, man it just hits the spot for someone that is a Star Trek fan. Really well done to say the least. Has me thinking of some Star Trek related builds now.

Looks like they just recently released their last episode. Episode 11 is the one I discovered on Youtube the other day. Really sad to see this version end But they did a great send off Watching all episodes now. Just finished episode 4.

I've seen some Enterprise builds before. Might go for a shuttle craft or Bird-of-Prey.

I like the build quality so far. Can't wait to put it together. Little bigger than the one I built a few years ago.

Motor tilting and flight control movement using the MultiWii (2.4) 180 servo stretching code.

Figured out how to get 180 servo movement in MultiWii 2.4 by adding the following lines of code. We'll see if we can have some fun with that

Code:
SERVO_CHANNEL+=125;

    }else if(state==2){
      SERVO_CHANNEL+=atomicServo[SERVO_1_ARR_POS];
      state++; // count up the state
