What IS that “CLI” tab in the Betaflight Configurator for anyway? 🤔
Better stay away from it since we don’t know how to use it right?!?
A lot of people are familiar with the basic tabs in Betaflight yet are understandably uncomfortable with the CLI. We could input the wrong stuff and really mess up our flight controller, right? 😲
Today we show you what the CLI is, how to use it with some totally useful commands, and why it’s actually your friend and not something to be afraid of . . .
Let me know if you plan to use it!

We dive into 3 FPV Beginner Tips which you can implement BEFORE you start flying, that will help you learn to fly FPV the right way, more quickly, and with more confidence. Specifically, the three FPV Beginner Tips we cover are how your camera angle is directly proportional to your forward speed, the advantages of using Acro Trainer Mode and also how to setup Acro Trainer Mode in both your transmitter (using OpenTX firmware) and in Betaflight and finally how & why to setup Throttle Limit in BetaFlight—if its good for Pro FPV Racers, this actually might be a good place for new FPV Pilots to start!👍🏁

Can you improve your flight skills just by changing a few numbers in Betaflight? Possibly! Today we take a look at a few of those numbers, make some changes, and conduct demonstration flights with how those changes turn out. Specifically, we make changes to our Micro FPV Quad Betaflight setup Feedforward numbers, and look at the associated Feedforward Transition & Smart Feedforward options as well as I Term Relax.

Want to fly in “interesting places” yet have some concern about losing your Micro FPV Quad if you do? Flying near mountains, over forests, or even over water and capturing amazing videos would sure be fun, right?!? What happens though if you lose video or worse, your radio control link? 😲 That could be a scary thought! No worries! Today, we go over when you lose video you can have your Quad return to you with just the flip of a switch! Or, how about if you lose your radio control link, your Quad returns to you automatically! Sound too good to be true? Here we cover how to setup Betaflight GPS Rescue mode both on a switch AND using the Failsafe option so you can fly anywhere freely with no worries at all and demonstrate its use during two test flights!

After a series of “Signal Low,” “Signal Critical,” and “RX Loss” warnings on different occasions with different Quads, we decided to research the pros, cons, and science behind 900 MHz radio control over that of 2.4 Ghz. Not necessarily for long-range, more for propagation through and around obstacles we’d be flying near (and in) like trees and buildings. Here’s what we found out. Do you think it’s worth the switch?🤔

Some of what I have learned to capture better quality, Smooth Micro FPV Drone HD Video during flights. We go over the steps we have used to reduce and mitigate unwanted vibrations, oscillations, and “jello” in our HD video. These steps are implemented for the quadcopter frame and components prior to flight, the camera settings and video capture during flight, as well as the post-processing of the video. Although we are using the Caddx Tarsier in this build, the jello/oscillation mitigation steps we cover are applicable to all HD cameras. I’m sure these are not all-inclusive of everything which can be done in any of these 3 categories as we’re just starting to learn. So, if you have more ideas-Comment Below!

These small, furry, tree-dwelling mammals have a webbed membrane which stretches from its face to its toes to its tail enabling it to glide over 200 feet between trees! Build one of these Micro FPV 3 inch Quadcopters yourself and find out how easy and fun it is to hit some of those tree gaps! Are you ready to "Colugo?!?"

Have you experienced that uncomfortable condition referred to as "Failure to Launch" or FTL? No need to pretend it doesn't exist or try to hide it anymore--we have The Cure!

Below, we demonstrate how to configure, setup, and use BetaFlight Launch Control to overcome that dastardly condition afflicting so many FPV Pilots-“Failure to Launch” (FTL). As a special bonus, we’ve created an easy-to-follow, 3 page, step-by-step checklist (with graphics) to show you exactly how to setup this feature and activate it on a switch of your transmitter and configure it on your quadcopter with BetaFlight. 👍

3 INCH DRONE BUILD SETUP (17 min 11 sec)

A few videos ago, we asked the question which frame should we use to build our 3-Inch Micro FPV Quadcopter, the FlexRC Ascent 3 HD or the HGLRC Arrow 3 Hybrid. At that time "The People's Choice" was the FlexRC Ascent 3 HD and it has turned out to be my favorite flyer-Thank You!

Now, we build out the other 3 inch drone frame, the HGLRC Arrow 3 Hybrid. Why is it a “hybrid?” The front arms are a stretched-X type (narrower) and the rear arms are a “normal-X” type (standard). Theoretically, this "hybrid configuration" should create more stability on the pitch axis and enable smoother and tighter cornering around turns (like on rails!). FPV FlightClub has used this hybrid configuration in their latest racing frames the 5" Proton-R and Neutron-R. One of the (if not, THE) best FPV Race Pilots in the world, Captainvanover, is running this hybrid setup starting this race season!

We complete our Hybrid 3 Inch Drone Build with our own custom components (not the ones which come with the BNF version of this HGLRC Arrow 3 Quad). In the video, we show a complete list of the components we use along with each of their weights, the overall dry weight of the build and the All-Up Weight along with the Thrust-to-Weight Ratio of this build in comparison with that of the FlexRC Ascent 3 HD. Guess which one wins that contest! What do you think of this Hybrid configuration? Also, the 2nd of 3 “Keywords” is revealed to unlock the Mystery of our upcoming announcement. Take a Guess for your chance to Win!

Where can I fly? This is one of the most asked questions by new FPV pilots. The U.S. FAA came out with new rules/guidelines yesterday (May 17, 2019) regarding the recently enacted new law. It’s really not complicated. With the use of Airmap, a simple-to-use and FREE software application for both your mobile phone and desktop, along with a basic understanding of the rules, its easy to find a place to have Fun! The video below shows you how. Although its primarily speaking to a U.S. audience, Airmap works elsewhere as well! Just a happy user of this App. Happy Flying!
