I decided to do a 150% upscale of my avro arrow, I was able to use 3" tubing, and a better nose profile cone, using single ply 9mm depron with a little carbon reinforcement and get a 37" wingspan version that comes in at 27.4 oz rtf using a 32mm G-12 8 second burn rocket motor
Accents and panel lines with sharpie pen and self adhesive vinyl. Roundels, and lettering from Stickershock23. Sims show a boost altitude of around 600'. Goal was trying to keep weight really light, using a profile of the intakes and working with a nose cone and tubing I could easily get. About 1:17 scale. This uses elevon only since I don't need rudder for boost and glide, running off a single 500mah 1s battery, very lightweight setup.

XK x450 maiden (5 min 59 sec)

A) Battery is all the way forward = Excellent hover !
B) In level flight the x450 hunts the ground
C) Transition is insanely smooth
D) The only thing I can complain about is the x450 hunting the ground in level flight .
E) Flies slower than expected in level flight
F) The altitude hold is really good ( Hover Mode )

When I came home I gave the elevon connectors two turns of up .. The other option is to change the angle of the motors in level flight ( Maybe ) or the position of the battery perhaps . ( Change one thing at a time ) Battery voltage was about 3.94v per cell when I came home and put the battery on the charger . Looks like 5 minutes with the supplied battery should be safe , maybe more depending on how you fly it .
I am impressed , and if not for the ground hunting I would have given this one a 10 out of 10 , as is the score will be 9 out of 10 . Also if not for the ground hunting on my sample , I would call the x450 the perfect beginners plane .

I got mine from BG for $99.99 USD and it looks to still be at that price ..

The Crawler (0 min 55 sec)

Posted by DTD_2112 | Today @ 05:23 PM | 60 Views
I visited a crawler track at the back of a hobby shop about 23 miles away. I got a lot of good info and picked up a few tips. Ive started to make some changes and we are starting to add a second elevation on the crawl area of our track.
The boxes will be filled with rocks or boards of various offcut sizes on their ends that will have plenty of ways to get to the top. Tomorrow Im building the rickety old suspension bridge. The red ink in the one photo is where the rickety suspension bridge will be built to get up to the next level.

Guys!
Just an amazing Prop Jet model, especially with the Electric Power System. It has been perhaps 2 years that I have not flown it so, I got the step stool and lower it down from hanging all this time. Dusted it off and checked all systems and afterwards, headed to Moon Port on Sunday, 01-26-2020. It flew for 3 flights and didn't disappoint!

A Few high resolution and wide bandwidth pictures can be seen at:

Maiden day for the Waco was nasty windy. I got out at sunrise and took another shot at it. A calm day made all the difference:

Very sad to hear about this -

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-01-...cooma/11894892
The 3 American crew aboard that plane had come with it to Australia to help fight the fires, and perished doing it. This explains better than I can -

https://www.theaustralian.com.au/nat...43bab2ea5d33c8

It says there are 80 fires still burning in NSW and half of them uncontained. So it's by no means finished yet. It's still very dangerous fire conditions across most of the country and they're burning all the time in other states too.
I think it's incredible what the water bomber crews do. These videos have most often been about the Large and Very Large Air Tankers but there are all kinds of flying machines throwing retardant against the fires. It must be so dangerous. All those fire crews out there are doing a fantastic job against those terrible fires and some are losing their lives to it. It really moves me.

Being relative new to this hobby, I haven't really become accustomed to dropping a few hundred bucks on decent birds that I'll get to fly a couple dozen times (at best) before turning them into piles of garbage. So instead of a locked-in BNF plane for $250, I decided to spend just as much (not really) piecemeal on some kits, starting with something small and relatively easy and working up to a NIB GWS ME-262 kit I have collecting dust.

Finding cheap, decent ARFs doesn't seem as easy as it used to be, or so old threads here would have me believe, but I did find that one can get an old EPO FlyFly ARF kit on the Value Hobby site for only $20.

So why not? I ordered it and it arrived in no time. After checking the contents, it looked like everything was there.

I was immediately impressed (but what do I know) with the quality of the kit. Pieces fit together very nicely (manufacturing nubs notwithstanding), and it's much tougher than I was expecting. The only complaint right out of the gate was that the main gear is not F4U gear, but it'll do. The tail gear is very true to the original, and I have plans for that. Also, the left wingtip by the aileron was slightly bent, but I poured hot water on it and it popped right back into place without the surface distortion you get on EPS.

I spent last evening with my monokote iron working on the tail group of the DAW 1-26 and DAW P-51 Mustang
Its so relaxing to lay some covering down and see projects nearing completion
The 1-26 needs to have the control snakes installed ,plastic covers added over the tops of the servos and then the fuse can be covered .

The Mustang fuse is ready for some 3M- 77, stapping tape and then covering .
I am using the HK covering on both planes ,it is nice to work with

V-Coptr Falcon Drone | Snap Poll (3 min 10 sec)

The V-Coptr Falcon two-rotor drone by Zero Zero Robotics is probably one of the most polarizing yet highly anticipated drone offerings that I have seen. Some folks proclaimed, "scam" when the drone was first announced. This may in part be due to the delays Zero Zero Robotics had in developing and releasing the Hover 2. I also think the declaration of 50-minutes of flight time raised suspicions. With only two motors to power, could it actually be possible?
