I grew up around boats and yachts of all kinds therefore my love for the ocean and for boats has always been a part of me. Back in the mid 1990's I happened to see a Tower Hobbies catalog that had a little description and a picture of the Dauntless in it. To make a long story short, I ordered the Dauntless kit in May or June 1998 and finally laid the keel on 7/2/1998.

As I was building it, it just did not seem right. I actually wondered, "there has got to be someone out there that really knows what this boat really should look like".

Fast forward to about 2007, I decided that I wanted to get back on the Dauntless and to research it. As I built, I researched. The more I looked the more I found, whether it be by chance or by digging. Sometimes information just came to me from the most unlikely of sources. Those that knew the full sized Dauntless became huge contributors to the project.

The full sized Dauntless is no more, however, her soul seemed to have haunted me. This vessel has a story to tell and it feels like it has chosen me to tell it. I learned so much about the full sized yacht and have somehow found the skill to transfer my knowledge to the model. This happens to be the first and only model that I have built.

I have managed to break away from the build from time to time, however it manages to reel me back in. It wants to be finished, and I feel obligated to finish it.

On the build side, I am pushing forward to put every detail I know of in this model....Continue Reading
