I found this half built kit with another abandoned project this week. The 14mm motor was already mounted in the pod, and the wing was assembled, so there wasn’t much left to do but put the Sinbad I am working on aside and finish this- my attention span issues are definitely in high gear. I have limited covering skills, and I know I need some practice.
I searched for a bit before I found the instructions on this site- I felt lucky that they were still there
http://www.parkscalemodels.com/shop/item.aspx?itemid=73.
I started by covering the wing and tail surfaces with the material I want to use on the Sinbad- some new old stock of RA microlight. That went fairly quickly I am wondering though if I should prep the edges somehow to help with adhesion. I covered both bottom and top.
The fuselage shows some good leaning opportunities for me, I used bits of leftover covering that must be at least 5 years old- I don’t recall buying or using it in the past.
One happy surprise was after using a yellow sharpie on the bare balsa skid, I thought that coating it with a lot of CA would be a good idea to seal it and to add a bit of tail weight- there was a chemical reaction and it turned red immediately, and luckily it nearly matched the red trim.
Equipment on board is a frsky 2 cell all in one micro rx, HK 2g servos and a Tattoo 300mah battery, AUW is 105g. I have a suspicion the motor is a 1408 3-4000 kv, but can’t remember or see the markings, the prop is a 4x2, it’s under propped, but over motored…
A quick maiden in my front yard was thankfully uneventful , the snow has too many tracks in it for a rollout (slide out?) but it has plenty of thrust.
