No one was posting decent pictures of this plane as of yet. Granted, it just came out, but what gets annoying is all the talk about a plane and how some are going to "pull the trigger" on it and never do. Enough of the talk already. Enough of the shameless shill build logs on these planes. Here, here it is for everyone to see.

I haven't flown it yet, as I just built it last night (while being sicker than a dog). You can hear it in my voice in the video. Its really amazing that a 3s2200 is going to get this airborne, but at only 3 1/2 lbs for a 60" plane with floats, it seems that it will do just fine.

A couple neat things to note are as follows:

1. No glue is needed on this plane as every piece has hard points to screw directly to.

2. Along with the standard landing gear for land, a set of floats are included as well.

3. All push rods are concealed in the plane. This gives it that much more of a realistic look. Even my $1600 Warbird doesn't have this feature.

4. This can be built in as little as 2 hrs.

5. The TxR version comes with an Rx and the Any Link system. Not bad for the small $200 price tag!

6. Really bright Nav lights. One on the tail, and another on the top of the fuse. Also a landing light on the left wing to assist in your awesome scale landings. Then you also have the red and white leds on the left wing along with the green and white on the right wing.

Great Planes Piper J-3 Cub .40 size kit - Build and Maiden Flight (4 min 44 sec)

Not much to say on this, but just wanted to share a couple photos as I built this plane. This was a easy and fun build. If anyone has any questions, just ask.

I picked this up from my L.H.S (Scale Reproductions) in Louisville KY. Those guys treat their customers so well. They called me before they opened and said my Carbon Cub arrived. I've been waiting MONTHS for this cub and I believe I was the first US individual outside of those doing the reviews and of course Horizon to have this cub. Anyways, I instantly got photos of it, while at the same time started charging the lipo at the hobbyshop. I took it out into their parking lot and with the help of a friend, got a small brief flight video of it. I went home and charged up my batteries from my UMX Gee Bee and flew the Carbon Cub again at home. This time, I had my wife grab a video for me. Hope you like the 2 videos and the photos of this beautiful plane. And one last thing to add, my FLOATS showed up yesterday. I look forward to a flight off of water here real soon.

This is my electric 90mm edf F-86 from FlyFly. I absolutely love this plane and its a blast to fly! This has FlyFly's electric retracts. They are ok and way better than their struts. I started working on this 1/12/12. I've owned the kit for over 2 years. Just never got around to building it. Since I have 3 little kids now, I'll be spending much of my winter in doors. What a great project for myself while I'm TRAPPED inside.

First off, I'd like to thank Brian @ Scale Reproductions for assisting me in this fine purchase. He is located in Louisville Kentucky 502-459-5849 and is happy to assist many if they are interested. I'm trying to get my blog as complete as possible. So in this log, I'll be going over my B-17.

When I was about 11 yrs old, I remember visiting my grandpa's house. He had this collection of cars and planes from Franklin Mint. One of the planes that he had caught my eye. It was the B-17G. I just loved it, as it was very detailed, from the spinning props all the way to the detailed bomb bay. A few years ago, my grandfather was passing out his Franklin Mint collectibles to me and my cousins. One that he gave me was the B-17! I proudly put it up on my shelf in my office. When I got into RC planes about 5 yrs ago, I decided it was time to move it from my office into my hobby room.

Recently while surfing the net I saw my B-17! It was almost identical and it was an RC Plane, not just a model. I talked to my wife about it, but it was out of my price range. Our anniversary was coming up and she gave me the go ahead to buy it. I was so happy.

So here it is, along with some pictures of my Franklin Mint B-17. I'm posting these up so that my grandpa can see both models next to each other.

The plane flys great on 4s but I am concerned about longivity of the electronics on 4s. Its recommended to fly on 3s!!! 4s will burn the motors and ESC's!!!

Last year during Hobby-Lobby's Crash sale I picked up this beauty for a measly $299. Right from the beginning I knew I would be setting this up to be an electric beast! Nothing I hated more than to have a plane to fly scale when it was under full throttle. So my planning began. First off, I decided to use well tested tried and true HD-1501MG servos from TroyBuiltModels. For the amount of torque that these produced along with them being metal gears, the $18.99 asking price has to be the best bang for the buck around. With the servos decided, I needed to go and decide the power setup. I knew I wanted at least a 8s setup, but I was a little leary as to if it was going to be enough. A little research and I decided on the best motor to use. I opted for the Great Planes Rimfire 1.60 which was capable of running on 10s with no problem. This was great as last year I picked up a Scorpion 130A HV ESC w/ remote from Easytiger that I had in a jet that I was no longer using. I now needed some lipos. Knowing that the plane would not be taxing my 10s setup, I opted for some simple Turnigy 20c 5s5000mAh lipos from the HobbyKing USA warehouse. For the price I went ahead and picked up 4 of them. I would need to put two of those bricks in the plane and run them in series to make it a 10s5000mAh pack. Within a week I had them, but you get what you pay for. I thought I would add some info to this video blog. This is a ESM (Ever Soaring Models) T-28. The ARF sells for $399 from any vendor that carries it. I picked mine up from TroyBuiltModels last year as soon as it came out. This model has been out for one year now. Vendors that carry this plane that I know of are TroyBuiltModels, VQWarbirds, and ARFPros who are the authorized dealer for ESM planes.

I'm running a DLE-55 gas engine in it. This engine according to specs puts out 5.5 horsepower. I believe it as it powers this plane with great authority. Rule of thumb for the DLE-55 engine is that it will consume 1oz per minute. For a spirited flight you should be able to keep this plane up in the air for about 12 minutes on the stock tank.

While breaking in the engine, I was running really rich. This is my first gasser. I wish I knew more about gas engines for RC so that I could have prevented the next paragraph.

Well, while breaking in the motor a few weeks ago, actually same day that the video was taken, I ran out of fuel. I've been running really rich trying to break in the motor and I was averaging about 6-7 minutes per flight. I know, its very very short, but I was tuning it. Anyways, I ran out of gas on my last go around AFTER I put the gear down and the flaps down. BIG MISTAKE leaving those all down.
