Ingrid Blüm had a visit at the 33. scale sail and did some outstanding pictures with her camera.

You'll find the photos on her web-side:

I have already shreddered other threads in the sailboat forum with videos from my tornado like this:
(I apologize for that ;-)

link playlist tornado:

So I think, it's time to introduce my tornado-cat.

This was my first RC-Sailboat, I got it 1975, so you can call it a vintage-catamaran:

http://dieterschlueter.de/Katalogbil...%20Tornado.pdf

To prevent capsizes and pitch poles the mast had had a flexible mast foot like a wind surfer.
While gusts the mast was bend leeward to let the wind out of the rig.
After the gusts went through a spring in the backstay had to set up the mast again.

Over the years I had periods with more or less sailing with the tornado.
Those multihulls are very exotic and you need the right location and weather conditions to have a nice afternoon.
The capsize issue might be a problem, so I'm usually searching for a location with wind coming from the lake to the shore.
Those are more stable wind conditions than overwise and in case of a capsize the cat will be driven back to the shore.

Trying single handed sailing and video taping simultaniously, you get nothing else recorded than bad (sail-) boat handling and strange camera moves.
Your camera man isn't always nearby, so for the short range my camera app should make the job:

The last two days of our holiday trip we had a look at the AC72 trainings.
I filmed a lot of footage (playlist link below) and had lots of talks with other spotters near St. Francis Yacht Club.
When we saw this, I catched at that video, we all together thought, that ETZN was foiling close to 'close hauled'.
I don't think, we will see this very often again .

The day before we left SF, we have seen this object between the AC72s at the North Shore.
Something like a multihull with an autonome wing.

This red vehicle must be something of theirs:

back in SF at the end of our holidays trip we had a special highlight, while we met these gentlemen, having their match race at veterans day.
That's what I call a match race!

Good luck in England,

and I hope, you get your water back soon!

Well, I should mention, that there is a second life besides RC-Boats, especially when you are at your holiday trip, looking for freedom, äh fun!

Next Wednesday we will arrive in San Francisco having our holiday trip. Thursday we try a calm start and we will visit SPRECKELS LAKE at the golden gate park. Friday we will have a trip with the AC US76 at pier39.
Speaking of America's Cup, the last time we visited San Francisco, we took a short look at US17 and then it capsized! So, be prepared!
