Or was it part III

Small update. Everything sanded & primed. Everything fits so well together! The clear plastic parts for the head- & taillights are difficult to paint. My clear yellow turned out to be clear brown

I also received my pan unit ('servo load bearing block') from RobotShop.com/eu. The reason I choose this is because I want to avoid a 'bobblehead'-like live stream whereas any play in a pan-servo would enhance shaking/vibration. I want my fpv/HD-camera mounted as sturdy as possible. Expensive for what it is but from what I know, price is high due to patents.

Update march 13th:

The paint looks gorgeous on the model! I've painted the hood and two side panels and then it hit me... if i need three cans of primer for such a large model, i'll need at least three cans of paint for the final color So, i've collected some more cans of AS-5.

Also, the supplied mirrors on the hood don't stand a chance in a roll-over so i ordered some generic ones from ebay. The third from the left should be good except... it comes with a sticker that doesn't work as a mirror. Just a shiny surface. SO... i came up with the luminous idea of ordering 24mm dentist mirros on ebay. Let's see how that pans out.

Before priming the hood, i've filled the holes where the mirrors supposed to go with plastic putty/filler and it looks really good. No dimples to be seen.

Hi all.

I'm trying to design a delivery drone of 100x60mm with a blended wing and a vertical stabiliser. I would like to know how to choose the airfoil. Would a NACA 65-210 be good ?

Thank you for your time !!!

Hi, all 4 of my 1206 brushless motors on my drone are making a random ticking noise at all levels of throttle. They are brand new motors controlled by a mini mamba 4 in one esc stack. I get the ticks only when using the JazzMaverick rpm filter-enabled firmware; Normal BLHeli S firmware seems to not have any ticks. Besides the ticking noise, the motors seem to run fine, however I did have one uncommanded jitter while flying a couple packs but recovered in-air. Any ideas of what the problem is? I can try to post a video later if there is any intrest.

Yes...yet ANOTHER model airplane engine test.
You've been forewarned, so no whining allowed!

The spoils of last week's "Engine Sniping", this little Anderson Royal Spitfire (MAN, I love that name!) arrived yesterday, and went straight from the mail box to it's waiting test stand.

Nope ( First 18650 plane fail ) (0 min 6 sec)

Yes , I set myself up to fail .

1) I chose a failure of a 480mm RC glider conversion ( Flew like rubbish = Just like in the video ) Why ? Probably because the 480mm glider was a waste of space . In the rubbish bin now ( after saving the goodies )

2) I really was in a hurry ! Haste makes waste

3) The battery carrier / holder .. = Failure .. I only had the one so failed to set it up correctly . All the metal hardware on these are horrible conductors . So you need to bypass the heck out of it ( I failed to do that - I only did a spring bye pass and poorly at that )

4) The brushed motors I had ? Where is the thrust ? Is it the motors or is it the ESC ? Either way , as serious lack of power . Or very poor motor choices ( purchase )

5) I did learn something !!!!! So was not a complete waste .

6) I really want to do a 18650 plane , really I do . But maybe a dual 18650 ( 8.4v ) with brushless ?

Anyways , thats what I did today . I played with the idea . Now I need to do some testing . I think I need another hot 8520 , these larger motors dont seem to respond well to 1s power ...

Did some model airplane things today. Put together a few more pieces of my engine test stand. It is a little on the heavy side, but there is nothing wrong with that. I would rather error on the heavy side than the lightweight side when dealing with a screaming model engine.

I am happy with this so far. I do foresee an exhaust accumulation area. Will need to address that, so that clean-up is easy

I will fix it so that it comes apart quickly and easily

I purchased the tank holder and engine holder but the wood and metal saw horses I had around the house.

Will take some more photos earlier in the day. The light was not right. It gets away fast.

It's really fun to watch Paul launch his BAMF. He was hitting 62-69 meters today. I got a new Samsung S10 and all this was shot using it. The new phones really have great cameras for us amateur photographers. The slow motion is awesome and it shoots in 4K.

Halloa people

another day.. another build-project!   Last year I bought me GepRC CL7  7" RTF quad, and pretty nice! It is however more a high-speed cruiser then a (relatively) nimble freestyle quad..
I'd like to solve that this year by building a 7" myself    This time it is Not going to be a "how to series" though..

Let's actually start by taking a close look at our frame

Project iFlight MONSTER TITAN DC7 HD DeadCat - Frame Review (15 min 47 sec)

The parts I'll use in this build:

Frame: iFlight DC7 Titan
ESC: iFlight SucceX 60A BLHeli_32
Flight Controller: iFlight SucceX F7 TwinG
Motors: iFlight XING 2806.5 1300 KV
Camera: Runcam Phoenix v2
VTX: iFlight The Force Long Range 1 Watt
Receiver: Flysky FTr16S IFHDS3

Still brushing on coats of Brodak clear dope on the Navigator, along with adapting engines to the Q-Tee's changeable firewall. While I was at it, I cut out a firewall for two Cox Tee Dee .020's I'm gonna fly on the little parasol. I'd originally called this mod "Hammerhead", 'till flying bud Tony "xplaneguy" referred to it as a "Board of Engines"...and the name stuck!

Hopefully have it ready to fly this coming weekend.

The Flysky FRM302 is finally starting to appear for sale. This is the JR module that gives access to Flysky's newest protocol, AFHDS3A. While this is still using 2.4 GHz for transmission, Flysky is claiming it's a long range protocol, apparently good for more than 12km. Should be exciting to see this in use and to see if it lives up to their claims. Native support for the NV14, as well, should make this popular for current Flysky users.

Here are the only receivers that will work with AFHDS3A.

FTR16s is the serial only, miniquad style receiver.

FTR4 is the air based one, with PWM output for servos.

GR4 is the ground receiver, for RC cars.
