After 2 weeks of really high winds and no flying...this..

2 weeks of non stop winds, 20 klm gusting to 60, have put off flying as even the mornings and evenings are windy. Flying in the wind is fun but this is too much for this bird.

Not the best photos and there were other nice ones not lite up. Held every year in town it's one of 4 shows that the worlds best can compete in. Weather went from + temps and windy to - 45c {-40c = -40f } and calm so no flying in far too long...

Touch more to do and I'm done with this one. Ordered the new version with retracts and flaps installed for $40.00 less than I paid for this plane.

With the winds at around 20klm the stock rudder could not help turn it. The odd time between gusts it showed real promise for some high speed straight runs. When it did turn at high speed it seemed stable enough if the ground was smooth. Never really got above 1/2 throttle.
windy day snowjet test (1 min 0 sec)
will add more rudder volume and wait for the wind to go down for more tests, going to snow an inch or so in the next couple days so I'll have a good smooth surface to skim over.

So the mount was just taped on...man is this thing fast on the snow, I mean it just
snow jet first test (0 min 52 sec)
gets up and goes. Video is just a few seconds of the 20 or so minutes I was out there. Not the best turning radius, could use some work but on the frozen lake who cares...lol. Didn't have enough room on the street to get past 1/4 throttle.

Well since the weather sucks for flying I guess I'll work on the plane hauler for now. Working out a tiedown system for the box to keep the birds secure.
I know there are some for sale out there but I'm cheap...lol. It'll have to be a pullout shelve ...I'm lazy too. More snow due in a couple hours, have to see what the wind will do.

With a foot and a half of snow on the ground and the temp. at -27c I still have yet to maiden the Turbojet.. I'm thinking skies and a trip to the lake in about a month.
