I've received an eLogger V3 from Eagle Tree Systems for review, and have done some bench tests and installed the sensors in the ElectriFly Reactor. Unfortunately the weather has been too lousy to fly - here's today's forecast:

A chance of snow showers, mainly before noon. Some thunder is also possible. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 40. Breezy, with a west wind 15 to 18 mph increasing to between 23 and 26 mph. Winds could gust as high as 46 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Looks like I will have to wait for next weekend, or get up very early one day this week to fly before work. I was able to compare the current draw between the 10x4.5SF prop Great Planes recommends and an 11x4.7SF, and on the ground it only increased from 17.5 to 19.2 amps. I'm going to try out the 11 inch prop and see how it feels in the air. Stay tuned for the complete eLogger review in a few weeks.

This is the longest, most detailed review I've written so far, with 45 photos, and I'm having a blast with the plane.

What motor/battery/propeller combination are other people using?

Just as I was finishing up the build on my Reactor 3D and about halfway through writing my review, I saw that Great Planes has come out with a biplane version:

I have to admit it's very pretty. With four ailerons and a shorter wingspan, rolls should be extremely quick. I love finding new planes which take the 11v 2100 mah packs I already have.

There are some good instructions there on how to program a kill switch on a Futaba radio for airplane use.

This explains how to remove the ratchet from an airplane radio to get a smooth throttle stick, which is critical for helicopter pilots. I've found it's pretty nice for 3D airplane flying too.

Once this plane clicked it became such a blast to fly. Haven't gotten to try it indoors yet, but I'd like to.

These are a good way to try different prop sizes, motor replacements, etc. without spending a dime. They're also invaluable to heli flyers to determine head speed.
