During the peak winter month of February I decided to put a boat model together. I wanted to build it on a counter in my living room to take a break from the daily garage shop routine of repairing and retro fitting RC planes for awhile. Being a small model I could keep my work isolated to a small area. This thread here was just going to be a short time build originally just to make a display example of a general post war tugboat example. I am not concerned about making the exact tugboat Despatch No 9.
A short history.
Standard Oil Co. tugboat Despatch No 9 worked in the movements of oil barges in the San Francisco Bay areas and was based in the Richmond, California as a base. She is equipped with the modern niceties in the end of the wartime era. She had an electric towing winch, a bow electric winch capstan, watertight doors, etc. It was an Army design that was built for the U.S. Marine Corps in 1945. It was later sold to the Standard Oil Co. The cabin design was to accommodate extra crewman if needed. It is possible it may have had a couple crew bunks below the deck in the bow also. She was originally built with a 20mm cannon on the pilot house roof.

So a bell went off while I was priming the parts and looking over the instructions, The house structure ends up in one piece and fits to the deck snug over a coaming. Hmmn!! I think I can actually...Continue Reading

I built this model in the mid 80's when I was in a Fall River, Mass. Model Boat club. It was a beautiful kit that may still show up for sale on occasion in eBay or even here in RC Groups. I have a very large amount of postings of my model Aircraft, Boats, and club activities in the Bristol County Radio Control Club of Dartmouth, Massachusetts. I could get more exposure here in RC Groups. I took it upon myself to support my club website. So here is a link to the Emma C. Berry model schooner with loads of supporting info and plans. I will post a few of the pictures here also to see what this famous vessel of an era of fishing and private sail. The vessel is now fully restored to it's original look from the year 1866 as a Noank fishing smack. It was a gaff rigged sloop those days. In 1933 it became a schooner until about 1947. Then it went back to it's origins as a gaff sloop again.

Note that if you look also into the index of BCRCC website under - Electric Planes you will find many more posts of my aircraft along with other subjects in all parts of the hobby.

The motors produce under 1k watts and 69 Amps of power use. The props are APC 4 blade 10x6 pitch. The plane is at 16.5lbs. The wing is 100 inches. Fuselage is 78 inches.

See the build log here:

This was an older Cub model I rejuvinated as an E-power model. It has a neat unique style of a plugin motor and battery nose module. I also made the setup for sea and land flights. Have a look at this setup. It would be very good for short nose and radial motor WWI and WWII planes with every other plane in between also.

The plane has all the bugs out from the maiden now and it flies very scale like now. It is so pretty in flight. Very realistic look flying.
Here are the links to the Albatross. This one has all the info and the start all the way to the finish. This is in the middle of this thread.

This is a thread now defunct. It had a gorgeous Albatross by Stef. There still may be some video of the plane in here. It was a museum piece that destroyed in the maiden. I have some notes in the end also.

I posted videos over the past few years here as I built home builds and some manufactured kits. I also like to do home builts just to keep busy. Many of them are posted and are all mixed in. There may be some notes under the video about the plane in question there. Have a look as it may be entertaining. Enjoy some or all.
