Her replacement from the same designer,Martin Firebrace(dec) and builder,Carl Weatherill.is a Tempest 2.
So the tuning and tweaking starts again.
The name "Ghost",came from an overheard comment whilst sailing on a very calm day.A passerby was heard to say..Look at that thing just ghosting along.Seemed appropriate after the sinking of Kiwi 2 ,the Vapour.

So I'm racing every weekend and tuning all week.Speed is what I'm looking for.However a relaxing cruise also has its attractions.
The schooner,"ORION"came on the scene.Scratch built in Auckland,a scale of an 1860's American schooner.
Wow is sailing this a time user.So very relaxing going on imaginary fishing trips along the coast of the lake.

The bug bit hard so when a deal on some second hand gear surfaced,in I jumped.
The yellow one is the Carnel,an Aussie design..loves the light weather.
The white is a TS2,another Aussie boat.This one now resides with my Dad.who at 73 is just learning to play with toys.Sailing the real things has finally got too much for him.
The Carnel is now in the hands of a new comer to the sport.

The Seawind set in motion a need for speed and competitive racing,hence IOM(International One Metre) boats came on the scene.

The intention was on the spur of the moment to get an RC yacht and go sailing.
Little did I realise where that would take me
On getting home and opening the box I found there was a bit more work involved than just standing up the rig.
Surprizingly I really enjoyed the construction phase..27 hours..pretty much worked on it for three solid days...couldnt keep away.
Painting got screwed up due to being impatient to go sailing...wet paint and water don't play well together.
