Hi Everyone

In May I purchased from Bill Hempel Team Edge a KA6E 50% scale glider.....the biggest one on the market. I was looking forward to its arrival so I can install the radio gear and an electric motor to launch it given that I am wheelchair bound most times because of a spinal cord injury-incomplete quadriplegic.

Anyway, I received notice that the ship had arrived on 1 August 2018 and my glider was available to be picked up at the shipping depot in Melbourne. I paid for all the customs and duty fees that amounted to over $1,100 (Aus) and the Glider plus freight over $3000(Aus). So I paid over $4000 (Aus). Alot of money.

After I paid all the fees, the shipping depot organised to bring the crate with my glider to my vehicle and they gave me some paperwork that said the crate was damaged and photos of the crate within the shipping container were attached. The photographs supplied by the Melbourne shipping depot that unpacked the sea container clearly show that the freight company that Team Edge engaged to ship my glider packed the container incorrectly by putting heavy crates on top of my glider.....these crates crushed my crate and destroyed my glider. Damaged so much it cannot fly. I have attached photographs. My crate did not have stickers on it to say..."Crate on Top Only" or "Fragile"...none whatsoever!

My question is.......has anybody had the same experience when shipping large scale rc models like my Bill Hempel Team Edge KA6E glider 50%?

I am waiting for Bill Hempel from team edge to provide a solution in Bill's words. I was so looking forward to flying my new glider in Australia during summer.......................

Halloa guys

I got me a new FPV goggle in last week, so I have set about testing the thing It is a box-style goggle, and I should tell you that my current daily driver is the TopSky F7X v2, which is offcourse a Fatshark style of goggle..
I think most people never give box-goggle a second look after switching to Fatshark-style goggles, so I really wonder if the FXT Viper has a chance of converting me :P

LInk to this new V2 version: FXT Viper v2 - Box style FPV goggle

So basically most tests I'll do are to see if these goggles are something I would want to be my daily drivers.. If I like them at all, I'll at least use them exclusively for a month so I can do a long-term-review for you..

For now.. I've only done a bit of flying around with them.. here is what that looked like:

I was building a Balsa USA Fokker EIII and nearing the end of the assembly. I could have gone with the plain stock gear but I wanted that EIII look. I also had to modify it to take some Top Flite wire wheels I needed to figure out how to solder larger pieces. Low and behold, Balsa USA has a video about soldering landing gear on their website. Great, I thought.

As I watched the video it showed the prep, how to get the pieces together and then the copper wire wrap. Then he got the soldering iron. It was huge, compared to the normal soldering iron. I knew then thats what I needed to get, a big soldering iron. As I recall, he gives a watt range to look for. I found this one on Amazon.

I got it. It works great. The only the he didnt mention was that it takes about 30 minutes to get up to temperature. There are ones with more wattage available on Amazon but they cost a lot more money.

  • $1.50 electronics part, can be connected between end connectors on balancing plug, or soldered directly on ESC battery plug for voltage.
  • Permanently mount in battery compartment of larger planes for instant before-and-after flight voltages.

Hi,

Is there anyone who is friends with Lewis (Whitman Flyers)? I bought a Great Planes F-4 kit from him on 8/7/18 and have not recieved the kit nor gotten any correspondence from him which is quite unusual. I tried to send him a message directly but his RCG mailbox is full and wont accept additional messages. I also attempted to contact him using other emails and hes not responded.

If anyone knows him, can you please have him message me through RCG to discuss the status of the shipment.

Thank You!

Back in 1987 or so I built my first Scorpio Falco 180, a very nice high quality ARF slope soaring glider, the company now out of business apparently. In 1996 I sold many of my rc gliders after getting into full scale soaring. My love of rc soaring has never left me and I kept a few slope and thermal gliders and flew them occasionally but I always missed some of the ones I had sold, one being the Falco 180. Fast forward to about five years ago. I placed a wanted ad in the RCG classifieds for a Falco 180 and by a miracle I got a response a few days later, an already built Falco. The price was good along with its condition so I bought it immediately. The glider arrived shortly after. The previous owner did a great job building her but did make two mods, one was to remove the small amount of wing dihedral creating a flat wing and the other was to drill large holes in the elevator and rudder to lighten the tail. I did re modify the wing to return it to the original dihedral but left the tail surfaces alone, no need to change that. I like a small bit of dihedral, it helps the plane track or groove a bit better IMO. Not long after getting the Falco flying again she gets mid aired, the collision destroying the canopy and tray, the upper section of the forward wing/fuselage bulkhead and put a not so severe dent in the leading edge of one wing. I was really lucky, no major damage to fuselage or wing. The Falco then went into mothballs for a few years unfortunately, cannibalized for...Continue Reading

MJX BUGS 5W 5G WIFI GPS drone FULL REVIEW (15 min 23 sec)

The MJX BUGS 5W is the latest addition to the MJX RC: the Bugs 5w is a very interesting and complete drone, brushless motors, GPS, compass, gyroscope, 1080p camera and 5g wifi, making it an entry level semi professional gps drone.

Thanks to the GPS and the 1080p camera the Bugs 5W enters the right in the ranking of the best echeap drones: thanks to WD10203 coupon you can buy it from TOMTOP by clicking this link https://goo.gl/FCRsMZ for about 130 €, the lowest market price. The coupon is also valid for other versions with more batteries.

TOMTOP.com: https://goo.gl/p5uTrz

The 1080p camera produces really excellent videos and photos saved in the sd card installed on the drone or alternatively on the smartphone.

Remember that the drone transmits FPV video via 5G wifi so if you have an incompatible smartphone, you have to get one that supports this frequency: thanks to the 5G wifi, the video transmission reaches up to about 200 meters while the drone control via radio control, arrives well over 400 meters.

Also thanks to the GPS, there are several interesting functions available such as the ORBIT MODE, the FOLLOW ME and the possibility to carry out autonomous missions using a map and POI.

In short, a very interesting gps drone to be considered for future purchases.
