3dhs edge 11-10-12 (4 min 59 sec)

A little flying over the past weekend. Sorry for the shaky cam in spots. I forgot to grab the tripod on the way out the door to steady it. Left my fathers commentary in there because it was pretty funny.

A bit of UM flying by myself and my father, not the best camera work and the camera was struggling at times to keep focus. I think it was the light was late in the evening here. And of course the commentary is funny and terrible at the same time. LOL

Had some adventuresome flying tonight. Started off in a pretty healthy wind but i was flying no matter what. Serious withdrawl was setting in. It slowly died down after the rains showers to pretty tame levels. Probably should've been kite flying instead of plane flying at the start. Lol.

It was chaotic in the wind but fought thru it. 30% throttle into the breeze was hovering. Lol. And downwind was almost an out of control rocket ship. Was a ride but stuck with it. The one thing flying in the breeze did was really make me lay attention to exactly what I was doing and the changing winds.

Once the wind died some was able to fly a whole bunch of inverted at about 4 feet off the ground. Almost tore off the tail when a puff of breeze smacked me into the ground sadly lol. It was one of those crashes where I just kind of laughed and said whoops. Not much you can do about a little gust knocking around a tiny airplane. Lol. I was proud that I flew at least a solid minute of low level inverted flight.

I love this plane and can't wait to get out and fly some more tomorrow. I am really starting to get the hang of it. It's not a true aerobatic machine but it gives me some thrills and then it does the nice slow easy buzzing around close flying.

So thinking about a new charger. Debating whether to just buy the celectra 4port charger for the simplicity or if I should be looking at something else. I only have the one micro plane so only have 1s lipos to charge at the moment. Probably going to be looking at staying with the micros since they are so easy to fly almost anywhere.

I know at some point I'll have more micros and in that will be a beast and an sbach which I know use 2s batteries. I guess I'll have to see if the celectra charger can charge those as well. If it does then the choice is made. Of course the beast comes with it's own charger for the 2s.

Hmmmm choices choices. I need something that I can plug in AC since my poor little charger that came with my t-28 is going thru AAs like water.

Well wind is down off to fly a bit.

Well did some tweaks to the plane the other day and finally got to fly it tonight and wow what a difference just changing the hole the control arms are attached too. Was able to fly inverted with ease tonight and actually able to climb while inverted. Could not fly inverted very well before just didn't have enough elevator. Amazing fun with the control throws a tad larger.

Also while I had the plane open the other day changed the aileron throws a bit as well. Didn't make the roll rate super speedy but there is a noticeable difference. Can get 2 rolls I'm before I freak out and bail out for being too low. Lol. Getting better at working the elevator thru the rolls but I have a long ways to go to be very proficient. I need to learn and train myself to also use the rudder when I roll to keep the nose up a bit more. At least I think that's what I need to do.

This plane isn't a super acrobatic machine but I'm working on the basic stuff. Will make learning on a quicker acrobat a bit easier if I can do the basic stuff in slow motion. Lol.

Can't wait to get out tomorrow and fly some more. I think I need to buy a new charger or at least the ac adapter for the one I have. Just have the stock charger that came with my RTF and I'm going thru double AAs way too fast. That does mean I'm getting in my flying though. Lol

Well the winds finally died from their 30mph craziness and I made it out to fly last night. It was dead calm and was able to actually fly a few inverted passes last night. The plane likes to fall out of the sky inverted even with alot of elevator so I think I might have to tweak something to make it fly inverted better (maybe CG placement). Lawn darted it twice. LOL Once was on an inverted and just didn't get it rolled back over before it hit the dirt (yeah I was too low when i started ). And the second was an outside loop, didn't seem to have enough elevator to loop like I do on an inside loop. Pretty sure if i can fix the elevator problem inverted it'll fix the outside loop problem. LOL Any ideas to look at on that?

I did spend more time flying last night below 5 feet of altitude than above 5 feet of altitude and that is just as fun as acrobatics. Something about a 50% throttle pass at 1 foot above the ground.

Best part I got home and even with the couple of hard crashes to the nose I did not have to pull out the glues and tape to fix anything. Last time I had the plane open I glued in the nose a couple of small pieces of reinforcing foam and what a difference it made when I did lawn dart it. LOL No crush injuries to the fuselage.

Well calm winds again today so I should be able to get out and fly it some more. And i must get over to my fathers and see his new plane that showed up. He bought one of those micro tiger moths. Which looks pretty cool in all the videos.

Well the winds the last 2 days are whipping up here. Been bumming and wanting to get out and fly. Being new to the hobby I want to be flying all the time. LOL

Right now I own a Ultra Micro T-28 as my first 4ch and first plane for that matter and I am starting to get the hang of it. Its been glued back together a few times and I have almost ripped off a wing or 2 but this thing just can't be beat up that badly.

Motor did die though but I have read that is a problem with the brushed motors at times. Performance Hobbies in Webster, NY has most of the parts in stock and can order anything anytime you need it. HIGHLY recommend them.

I've started thinking about another plane. Yeah scary I know just started and want more planes. Debating whether to buy a Champ (my father owns one and I love it, of course he tore it apart to build a biplane) or buy a Sukhoi XP. The choice is up to do I want something nice and slow or something nice and fast. LOL I already own a nice transmitter so at least I don't have to think about that. (Bought a Dx6i for my birthday).
