Here are some pics with rough measurements of my Carbon Z T-28 travel rig. The measurements are very close to cut pipe length, but do not necessarily take into account the length and geometry of the T fittings and L bows. I am not a technical drawing artist by any means, so its a bit rough. I made this rig using the dimensions of the model as a guide. I just started laying pieces down and connecting them together to see what worked and what didnt. I did use an electric mitre saw so my cuts were fairly accurate once I was happy with the fit.

MJX X601H RTF Hexacopter from (3 min 5 sec)

As my ten years as an official RCGroups reviewer draw to a close, it’s my pleasure to state that I’ll continue to do the occasional casual review right here on the blogs.

I’ve been privileged to work with some of the hobby’s greatest distributors and manufacturers. Among them is Hong Kong-based mail order house They often make product samples available for casual review by RCGroups bloggers. So, when I was given the opportunity to do the same, I jumped at the chance.

My first such review is of a fun, entry level RTF multirotor, the MJX X601H hexacopter. This affordable little machine comes fully assembled less the skids and optional propeller guards and comes equipped with a WiFi camera which sends recordable video back to an Apple or Android smartphone. What’s more, the free MJX app also allows the X601H to be operated via smartphone! Definitely a strange but fun experience.

As with every Banggood product I’ve ever reviewed, the X601H arrived wrapped in plastic and foam. Inevitably, the corners of the display boxes get dinged and the X601H was no exception. Still, the contents arrived unscathed. They include the fully assembled model with a 700mAh 7.4V lithium polymer battery, 2.4GHz transmitter, USB charger, spare props, prop guards, a small phillips screwdriver and an illustrated instruction booklet.

Banggood also sells an upgraded 1000mAh battery and...Continue Reading

Capturing videos of a drone was always a challenge due to inferior autofocus on DSLRs. The A6300 solves this issue with it's blazing fast autofocusing capabilities during video. Check out this simple test which demonstrates the same:

Due to an amazing sale that I just couldn't pass up yesterday at the local hobby shop, I picked up the new-ish E-Flite 1.2m Corsair. She's beautiful!

The funny things about this Corsair are:
  • I prefer the F4U4 over the others, which this one is.
  • I love the squadron markings for this Marine training squadron and have always wanted to model a Corsair from this squadron.
  • I love the colors. Green and blue? What's not to love!
  • AS3X and 1.2m are a great combination and I want to get more in this size.

I got the plane together quickly and easily; connect servo connectors for the wing, add the horizontal stabilizer, five screws total, and done! The plane feels solid, and has one of the best wing to fuselage welds I've seen in any foamie. The larger fuselage allows for ample room for the battery compartment. I won't have any trouble getting batteries in or out of this plane. The Mustang fuselage is thin and it can be cumbersome to get batteries in and our easily; not the case in the Corsair.

I look forward to maidening this plane this weekend as long as the weather cooperates. I'll probably take this one and the new Mustang out to the field if I can fit them both into the car at the same time. The one downside of these 1.2m planes is that it's more difficult to fit them into the A4. I can typically take 3 1.1m planes, but two 1.2m planes pose difficulties. We'll see and report on this Saturday.

RC Logger EYE One S - Beginner Mode Practice: #1 [Lumia 640] (0 min 55 sec)

The lady is flying her new RC Logger EYE One S for the first time in Beginner mode. She's coming from an Estes Proto-X, so she has a bit of an adjustment ahead of her. She did great though!

I'm new to a lot of this tech talk, but my friend has gotten me into action cameras. I was wondering what people think about the Revl Arc and all of the technologies/things it includes. I know it seems pricey, but from my limited knowledge it looks amazing. I also don't know about other cameras that are similar to it or that might be better though, and I was looking for some input on the subject.

RC Logger EYE One S - Sport Mode Practice #1 [Lumia 640] (1 min 46 sec)

Testing out my new RC Logger EYE One S in Sport Mode. The inclination angles are still severely limited in Sport, especially when compared to the later EYE One Xtreme. It is infinitely more flyable than in Beginner Mode, however.

I think I'm going to have to stick to Acro/Rate mode from now on with this unit.

RC Logger EYE One S - Rate/Acro Mode Practice: #2 [RunCamHD2] (6 min 21 sec)

Trying to fly the RC Logger EYE One S in Rate/Acro mode and having a bit of a hard time of it. I've only ever attempted once prior on my Dromida Ominus and my EYE One S, so this is going to be a long and slow progression for me. Completely unlike flying stabilized.

Just got two of these beast minis. One for me, one for the fiance.

They're so tiny! I put my Proto-X SLT on top to give an idea of the scale of the box. I can't wait to get it open, charged up and out to fly.
