Enhanced the Vertical Stab of my 2nd used Hangar9 F4U-1D 50-size (57-inch wingspan). This model had already suffered during previous owner who flew it at Grass Field only and flip-overs were a common thing.

Well, it happened again on my watch as the model veered off the textile runway and onto the adjacent grass area and it performed a flip-over. The Vertical stab is made of soft Balsa only construction and the need for some rigid and stronger construction is certainly needed as I was shocked that there were no harder wood in its Vertical stab. This now will be at least resistant to damage in case another flip-over occurs.

Flew my PC-9 yesterday early morning and late afternoon.

Just an amazing experience with this model as it didn't disappoint. Morning was great as early weather conditions were perfect with little wind. Yet this model really shinned during the higher wind action later in the late afternoon and watch the landing!

By the way, HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Again, had the entire club field for myself! Recorded the 3rd flight of my recently acquired Hangar9 F4U-1D 50-size Corsair.

Hello!

My adventure started here:
https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...40-46-55-GP-EP

I am not trying to make it perfect and instead look for a 10-foot look is all I was aiming for so, here are the final pictures of the Left wing repairs minus the Green Trim Sheet that I am still seeking and that won't be until Monday when Hobby Shop opens.

It was enjoyable and self rewarding in saving this wing assembly as there is just nothing wrong with it for flight, even with the damages and prior to the fix!

Okay, pictures!

Hello good people!

This model is just amazing! It survived landing with just nose & right main gear because the Left main gear didn't want to come down. The only thing I can think of was the last time (my maiden flight), it did GO OFF the Textile Runway and onto the short grass and I taxi it back on grass and back on the textile runway. Yes, it is a heavy model (like flying a lumber yard ) but, a fasntistic one at that!

After landing, I placed it ontop of a special and large (heavy) RC airplane stand in oder to troubleshoot the issue and believe it or not, all retracts function perfectly? I flip the model upside down and right side UP on the stand and results were the same! Successful function of retracts.

Frank, our Moon Port Modelers RC Club Vice President informed me that this is one rather fast scale model and that the air pressure could in fact also induce and rearward pressure such that the strut would slightly go rearwards due to the air stream (pressure) and cause the wheel to make contact to the rear side of the wheel well.

Nonetheless, I flew the model two (2) additional times with the Landing Gears in the DOWN position and it flew Fantastic! I did record the subsequent two flights so, stay tuned!

Okay, here is the excitment of the morning and let me say, the model sustained ZERO damage, not even a scratch!

Hello Good People!

Here is where it all started:
https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...r#post51524825

Joined in the fun this morning at Moon Port Modelers RC Club (Ttusville, Florida) to perform the maiden flight of my newly acquired Phoenix Model T-34 Mentor ARF ( 63.8-inch wing span / 1620mm). The model is a whopper of 11-lbs flight ready and it was just amazing to watch how light on the controls it was to control it considering all that weight.

The model ran off the runway because it has a good float manners, it is my first flight with it. Can't believe that the model already had 64 flights from the 1st owner (I am 2nd owner) and 1st owner acquired it back in December 2016 and it STILL Looks Brand NEW! Balsa & Light Plywood is the best!

Okay here is my Maiden Flight Video:

Hello good people! 🙂

It just truned December 1st, 2023 in my time zone! I just can't beleive that this 2023 has run its course like in a Flash!

I do hope you all are ready for the Holidays and in doing so, I feel it is Christmas early for me as I have acquired this fantastic model (Pheonix Edge 540 .46-.55 GP/EP) from a true gentleman. As always, it was great to see him and happy he was doing well, plus gave me his model at a super deal, thank you!

We all have mishaps and the model had one tiny blemish on the Left leading edge that came in contact with a bush branch on landing.

I have started in fixing it as I am not wasting anytime so, I can fly it soon (of course I could fly it regardless of the blemish).

FORWARD WORK: Complete the Left Wing Leading Edge bottom and sheeting plus new covering at this area.

My recent acquition from one month ago and finally got it in the air. None other than the SIG Sr. Kadet with a powerful Electric Power System! It has Navigation lights and internal LED lights. Has a completely separate A123 Nano Sulfate Lithium Battery pack 2-Cell (6.6-Volts) for the Receiver & Servos which isolates it from the powerful Electric Brushless Power System. I really enjoy this model and glad I purchased it.

Don't know if anyone took notice? Startup DAWN Aerospace has been busy!

Mk-II is ROCKETING!

Four months ago, Dawn Aerospace successfully completed the first rocket-powered flight campaign of their Mk-II Aurora spaceplane from Glentanner Aerodrome, Aoraki Mt Cook.

This marks a significant milestone in their mission to redefine how we sustainably access and utilize space.

They completed 3 test flights in 3 days.

While the plane had previously completed 47 test flights utilizing surrogate jet engines, these were the first tests under rocket-power.

Hello good people!

My pet peeve (annoyance) is watching a perfectly nice Spektrum radio be abused and negleted like the one I was given by a good friend. My good friend was not the owner and rather someone else gave him this 1st Generation Spektrum DX7.

It was a time when Spektrum didn't not have their own case so, they borrowed the JR's XP7202 case and menu board (they are identical). Of course the Spektrum DX7 transmitts under the 2.4G wide spectrum modulation and the JR XP7207 is a FM modulation under the 72-Mhz band.

Just for your information the JR XP7202 is a synthesizer transmitter that can be setup to transmitt from channel 15 through 60 via the on-screen program.

1. Received this Transmitter for FREE. (Thank you Mark)
2. Purchased the replacement Antenna.
3. Purchased the replacement Circuit Board FUSE (Rides on the main board and underneath the RF board.)
4. The rest was Clean, Clean and more Clean using various methods such as using the CRC 2-26 spray (Electrical & Electronics cleaner).
5. Lastly, had to reset the radio as it was beeping WARNING errors.

A few pictures with captions!

SUMMARY:

Super pleased and stroked that I was able to bring back this very good Transmitter back to its Glory!...Continue Reading

Check out this Hobby Zone Super Cub.

They have sold thousands but, still they need to enhance several items like provide a spar in the wing in case these plastic functional struts fail.

Just giving you an insight to Low Wing Loading.

At times you need to be ready as Propeller Gyroscopic Forces can alter the intended flight path during Zero Airspeed. HA!

Glad I maintained it 5 mistakes high! LOL!

Hi good people! After 2+ years in storage and rekindle hardware and tape covering repairs along with busted sero arm on the Zagi Wing, these two wings (Combat = Red; Zagi = Yellow) flew just amazing! Fast and Loud like they should. Of course Saturday morning was a test flight for the Combat wing which resulted in a spectacular crash seconds after hand lunch. The right Elevon push rod departed the wing so, control was dicey so, I made it crash on purpose for safety. The Combat is a heavy and robust 48- inch wing span wing that was designed for crashes and mid-air Combat so, no issues.

At approximately 2:33pm this afternoon (Monday, November 6th, 2023) I was able to record successfully a nice video of my Zagi Wing that had been in storage for a little over 2 years. After needed repairs and tape covering replacements, it flew delightfully. Check out the Video at:

Hello good people!

I have not seen anyone deal with Gyros here, perhaps I missed?

Anyway, I purchased a certain Hobbico Super Star EP (Rudder & Elevator) about over one year ago and had placed it in a corner. Last night - or early during the wee hours of the morning I had the energy and determination of learning ALL about how to download the Gyro Software Suit (In this case it is the HobbyEagle A3). I took out an old Laptop and the USB cable from the box and went right to it. I had to Write to the Gyro Controller twice because during the initial try I didn't noticed that the Elevator was checked to be reveresed, meaning that when the model dips downward in flight the Elevator would place more Down (something you don't want the Gyro to do!) and vise-a-versa!

To correct, I had to follow the instructions carefully and while the Software was connected to the Gyro controller, I un-checked the reversing of the Elevator and then,Gyro system worked correctly! This experience has made me appreciate these devices much more than before as I was one of those saying that I didn't need any help from Electronic devices that correct your model's flight. Well. I have this Hobbico Super Star "EP" as my experimental test bed of sorts to learn about using Gyros and can't wait to get this model in the air.
A few pictures!

NOTE: RED Light from Gryo Controller means the Gyro is turned off. The Blue light means it is in Normal mode (Corrects for slight wind action to keep the model level and tracking striaght).

I am hoping to use these new devices in the future!

Super Early Friday morning (Foggy Conditions - Wet conditions) flight of the Park Zone Spitfire Mk IV.

It was a great flight and I didn't have any issues in seeing the model with the Foggy conditions.

Just watch out for wet ground conditions!

I believe that I acquired the Park Zone Spitfire Mk IV back in September 2011.

Therefore, I can't believe it has survived this amount of years!

Here is a well desired Video on my Beloved Park Zone Spitfire after all these years!

The rule is almost always take it out during perfect weather conditions.
