1/24 Scale ECX Barrage Belt Drive Mod (2 min 40 sec)

Please Like and Subscribe!

This is a belt drive mod for the 1/24 scale ECX barrage. The stock truck lacks the torque and low speed control to crawl. The stock gear ratio is 5:1, this mod will make it 10:1. Besides the 3D printed parts you will need a few #12 rubber bands and two bearings that have an OD of 8mm an ID of 3mm and a thickness of 4mm. This does not require any permanent mods to the truck.

I have been an RC nut for as long as I can remember. Some of my first RC memories are of my dad flying planes with friends and me smashing old toy RC cars with a hammer and attempting to glue them back together. I have since graduated from deconstructing my models with a hammer to allowing operator error and gravity do the dirty work. I hope to use this blog to share some tips and tricks I have found along the way and to keep myself motivated to complete my many RC projects.

My first hobby grade RC vehicle was a Traxxas Stampede. In my opinion it is one of the best all around vehicles for having fun bashing around the yard. Shortly after the Stampede I began to take interest in local full scale dirt oval racing. At the time I was not old enough to race so the next best thing I could do was race RC dirt oval. I mowed many lawns in order to get my first competition level car. After a few years of racing RC dirt oval cars I was finally old enough to build a full scale racecar and my RC interests took to the sky.

My first plane was an Ultra Stick 40. I still have it and it is next on my list of projects. It is long over due for a makeover. It has endured countless amateur mistakes. Although the Ultra Stick was my first plane; my first solo flight came on my friends easy sport 40. This is one of my favorite RC stories. We progressed from standing side by side while I was flying to my friend just being in the area in case something were to go wrong. Well one day it...Continue Reading
