I'm really excited for this new product, the Hobbywing Xrotor F4 flight controller and 40a 4in1 esc combo. Hobbywing is the benchmark and industry standard when it comes to speed controller performance and durability. If you look at any serious mini quad motor thrust test results, you will always see the xrotor esc pumping out the best numbers. In the past they were too big to use on mini quads but now they've got their products lined up with current fpv standards.
Even though you may never need 40a capability, it doesn't hurt to have it. From my experience, the bigger the fets and higher amp draw capability usually results in faster responses and better performance as well as durability. In the past I used to run small esc's for the weight savings aspect but with frames and motors getting lighter and lighter, we can run bigger batteries and gear and still have the optimal performance we're all after.
Now with Hobbywings entry into the flight controller market, they made a good decision to go with the F4. Dshot 150/300/600/1200 capable, as well as Multishot/Oneshot42/Oneshot125 and PWM protocols supported. F4 is becoming the new standard now and the coding for the firmwares is beginning to peak at F3 limits so HW is on track with this newest entry into the fc market. Betaflight osd, sd card slot, pin bank to stack directly with the 40a 4in1 esc and Xrotor quality makes this combo a top offering in todays market.
Hobbywing has always been known as a top performer in other RC fields and now they have put down a serious contender in the fpv market. I am looking forward to trying this out and any of there future offerings for fpv!
