This is my first entry to my Blog
I'm sorting out my FMS Henshel Hs 123
I plan to fix the following:
1. The weak tail wheel
2. The main gear mounting weakness
3. Add a new hatch in front of the cockpit for a gyro
4. Add more detail to the cockpit
5. Repaint with a new colour and markings
1: Tail wheel
The tail wheel is known to snap off. This is because it is plastic. Including the main shaft as shown below.
This causes a major weakness in the plane. So I'm going to remove
it, including the spat which generally isn't scale for later versions of the plane that flew in WW2.
The existing tail wheels axial is the small screw you see in the image. It even doesn't screw into the other side of the spat.
It would have to be partly responsible for some of the planes ground handling problems.
I will replace it with a modified Durafly P40N's tail wheel.
The wheel is a little big, but I will see what it looks like and may change it.
