Getting ready for the October 18 R/C flea market in my area. Have not been out to the model club in over 2 full years. It will be interesting to see how I manage to get all my stuff set up on two tables, I seem to be as well stocked as a hobby shop. This was a pretty cool hobby, although expensive. It fit well when it became just me and the dog. I could spend nice mornings flying and still give Lakota the time she deserved after that. Since she passed in 2009, back into motorcycles and am gone all day in the flying weather. Just no time for the hobby anymore. Plan to keep just one plane, my Mig 3 Harpye design to hang in the basement to remind me of my time spent flying and all the great people I met in the hobby.

Way too cool! Yesterday was my first experience slope soaring. Spent afternoon at friends place on shore of Lake Huron yesterday. Their backyard has a dropoff about equivalent to standing on a fifth floor apartment balcony I would estimate, down to a short ten foot beach and then the lake. Had my Easystar with me and had a couple flights in calm air. The wind kicked up to a mild 15 - 20km and when I brought it in close for a landing I found I could not get it slowed down to land and started soaring motor off. I was amazed, could have stayed up for hours motor off. Finally had to bring it in after about 25 minutes for dinner was ready. After all the times I have tried chasing thermals at the field, this is the first time I have ever managed to get the experience of unlimited non powered flight. This could be terribly addictive.

Lakota was my dogs name. I lost one of the greatest loves of my life yesterday. She will be missed dearly.

Think twice before using your pets name for an alias on the web, at some point in time it may become a painful reminder.

For a fully discharged NiMH battery, an approximate charge time can be calculated using the following
formula: Battery mAh capacity X 120% mA charge rate = hours of charge.

2000mah pack @ 55ma charge is 43.5 hours per slow charge.

New tx pack formatting. (3 slow charge & 300ma discharge cycles). Slow charging can be accomplished with your standard system wall wart charger with extended charge time.

-slide a length 0.024" music wire down the tube

-use an inch of 1/16" shrink tube to attach the antennae wire to the music wire and easily pull it through

Woodland Scenics hot wire cutter. mount on table or use it free hand. What's not to like at $35!! To mount to table I just used two Du-Bro 5/32" nylon landing gear straps. Most all the model railroad hobby stores stock this wire cutter.
