Per the time lapse assembly video I found on YouTube, the ceramic disc capacitors were installed first. The eight-pin IC which houses most of the AM circuitry was installed with a socket. That's per the video and the socket was provided by a friend. -

The trickiest part was soldering this surface mount IC which I left up to that same friend who gave me the socket. It contains the FM circuitry. -
