While the wind has subsided for the moment so , I have also been finishing some Gas projects that have been on my "to do list"
Pictured below is a 1/4 scale cub that I have been working on .
A Enya120 R has been mounted for the power system { I wanted to use a gasser but my 23cc is side exhaust and would require cutting up the cowl more than I wanted } ,a different spare set of wings have been moumted and all servos have been installed.
Next I fabricated new wing struts and hardware -see below

There has been some discussion the various types of tabs used on aircraft so I thought I would add my two cents worth of thoughts on the subject gathered from a lifetime of working on aircraft..
By definition secondary flight controls reside on primary flight controls - ie. tabs. There are a myriad of different types of tabs usually defined by their intended function and it is quite common for more than one of these functions to be incorporated into a single tab.
Where the confusion often arises is that different manufacturers use different terminology for these functions.

While the DX5e transmitter is one of the best values in RC, it is anything but a stripped down transmitter. In fact, it boasts many features you simply won't find on most transmitters in its price range. Things like a Hi/Lo control rate switch, an extra function switch and available Delta wing mixing.

And because it's a full-range 2.4GHz transmitter, you can use the DX5e with everything from ultra micro helis and airplanes to bigger scale trainers and sport planes. It's a great way to try out the exciting world of Bind-N-Fly aircraft, too. It's 5-channels and extra functions will allow you to fly just about all of them.

Basic 5-channel 2.4GHz DSMX radio and receiver
Easy-to-use control for basic models
Includes AR610 6-channel full range sport receiver
Delta wing mixing
HI/LO rates
Servo reversing
JR and Spektrum compatible trainer system

The purpose of this How To article is to explain how to use Flight Modes on the DX9 transmitter for elevator trim.
Any of the talking DX transmitters and e (non talking computer transmitters) have the programming waiting for you to use. Flight modes can be used for other trims and things but this will cover elevator trim only.

Background: Elevator trim will change according to the airspeed of your model. If there is any incidence between the wing and stab you will have pitch up according to the airspeed. If you have little to no incidence then there will be little to no pitch up with airspeed changes. If you want to fly inverted with out having to hold any down elevator then you might want to have no incidence and/or move the center of gravity back so that there is little to no elevator stick required. Assigning a switch to give you a certain elevator trim to fly hands off might be another use of flight mode trim however this article is for basic flight control where minimizing pilot workload is the goal. This article is aimed for those that do not understand the value of using transmitter flight modes. The article does not go into flight modes for receivers or stabilizers or gyros. Transmitter flight modes can be used for receivers such as the Apprentice receiver, the AR636 receiver and the AR637T receivers. The 636 receivers usually are programmed to provide pitch up with full power. Many find this reduces pilot workload. Others dont like it...Continue Reading

Yep Les Amis,

Well after i updated my 360 with the newest firmware bailout update it has a bad drift forward and to the right. I used a level on a level surface with the forward programming on my dx8gen2 in an attempt to recalibrate the gyro. I have tried several times with different levels including a bullseye level on the gyro itself. No luck i cant seem to get the drift out. It either drifts forward or backwards after each recalibration. Its like the sweet spot is almost impossible to find. Is there a way in the software or the forward programming to trim the drift out. Or do i just keep recalibrating the gyro till i get it....btw my fusion 270 flys perfect......ive read a few articles aboit other spektrum systems having the same trouble but i can find a straight answer. Any help would be appreciated.

Last fall I was able to meet and spend some time with RC legend Brian O'Meara while he was at the Las Vegas Warbird and Classics Scale Event. He was flying many of his giant-scale beauties, including this outstanding and rarely modeled Republic F-84F Thunderstreak. This was made from a Phantasy in Blue kit imported from Holland and is powered by a JetCat 200 turbine engine.

Unfortunately, she experienced a flameout and with his longtime crewchief and spotter Wayne coaching along the way, Brian calmly and successfully brought his model in for a perfect deadstick landing !
Republic F-84G Thunderstreak by Brian O'Meara - FLAMEOUT! (Deadstick Landing) (5 min 41 sec)

What a treat to watch an experienced pilot and spotter bring in a stricken ship...!
