The bearings arrived today and I am still editing the final re-assembly videos as I type this. I went ahead and posted the video of it running.

I have added some pictures comparing my 45S to this one. I see why the new one needs that spacer for the carb, mine has a bit longer carb mount on the back plate. That could indicate that the one I just refurbished could be an older or more original 45S.

I took a chance on something I had done many years ago and got burned on, I rejoined EBAY and setup a Paypal account. This could have proven to be a mistake.....

So I was exploring EBAY looking for some deals to exercise my new account. I found what looked to be a decent deal on a very worn, heavily used looking Saito FA-45S. The 45 Special edition is a seldom seen version of the 45 engine. I was lucky enough to buy one NIB many years ago and it has served me very well. Now I had to have this one too. I bought it primarily as a project to refurbish and potentially resell.

It arrived on the mail yesterday, not in a box, but in a padded envelope. This was an immediate concern. Luckily for me the engine was undamaged but I cannot understand why someone would mail an engine in a padded envelope. This was purchased as shown below in the first few pictures; these are directly from the EBAY ad.

This engine has the look of one that was heavily run and then just placed on this display stand with absolutely NOTHING done to it. I can only imagine that the person that did this wanted to capture the engine and it's dirt and grime as it was from its last flight. That is all well and good, but I have no intention of it staying that way.

As usual, I documented it as it arrived to me and I shot some videos of the cleaning and dis-assembly. As it stands now it is torn down completely awaiting the bearings from RCBearing to arrive. They should be here tomorrow and then...Continue Reading

First run of this engine after dis-assembly, cleaning, and reassembly.

Enya 60-4C First run after reassembly (5 min 27 sec)

I recently purchased this used Enya 60-4C right here on RCG. The exterior looked pretty dirty and little was known about the engine. Instead of doing a Box to the Bench video I decided an internal inspection and cleaning should be done first. I did not want to risk damaging the engine by running it first.

As it turns out it looks to be a very low time engine. The exterior was just dirt, dust, grime mainly.

Here are the first 4 videos detailing the cleaning, disassembling, and inspection of the engine. More videos will follow in this playlist as the reassembly takes place.

I have added some before and after photos.

I decided to make my rebuilt old school Saito 50 a permanent open rocker engine. I looks pretty cool and runs just as well as before, obviously.

Here is the video of it running. I love watching those rockers move.
