Well, I got a new Novak TerraClaw 35T motor and after 20 minutes it got unbearably hot. So...time for an inspection. Turns out that at least 2 of my bearings in the front axle are blown out and the driveshaft was really stuggling to turn. So maybe my Axial motors were not at fault...anyway, ordered an Avid RC Revolutions kit to do a bearing overhaul in hopes that it will solve my overheating issues.

Well, I ordered a RC4WD Bully kit so it's time to turn the Wraith back into a racer for light off-road terrain. I swapped the 55T motor for a 20T, swapped the 13T pinion for a 19T & since I'm a basher, I went ahead and left the 87T spur in at the risk of motor killing for more speed. Then I flipped the lower shock/link mounts to drop it down, followed by loosening the shock collars for some big time droop. Lovin' it!
***edit*** I did end up frying the 20t after 25 minutes of running, so I'm going to stay away from axial motors for now on...

Today I painted my wheels, seat and added my LHS decal. Both were painted with flat black krylon fusion followed by clear plasti-dip. Lugs painted with Tamiya silver. For the cloth look on the seat, I sanded it then sprayed with the paint up close to cause spatter and little burrs. The clear rubber spray enhanced the textured bits and gave it a soft feel.

Today I decided to remove the passenger seat & move my Underglow battery. Then I got another flexlight from TrueValue and installed it on the passenger side to go with the drivers side light. Now I have great crawler lights that can be positioned to light the road in front, down, sides or wherever! Only $7 for a pair and they run on 3 button batteries which I have a ton of.
Later I removed the body panels and sanded them down, hit them with 4 coats of flat black and then topped them off with 4 coats of clear plasti-dip spray. Not quite sure where I'm going as far as graphics, but I'm going to paint the wheels black to match.

The last mod of the day was a front bumper mod. Now it doesn't block the head lights, the bumper stopped rubbing the tires on extreme twists and looks great with the fastback!

Next mod of the day was tire tread cutting. I used my curved body scissors to cut the segmented lugs off the inner and outer parts of the tires. Makes a huge improvement in traction for those on a budget or not ready to buy new tires.

Did a bunch of mods to the Wraith Saturday. First up is the "Fastback" mod. This did not cost me anything and all parts used where stock left overs(2 plastic links and some long screws). All cuts were made using a pair of dikes and a cutter blade.

It's pouring outside so I took the lil monster out and it was a blast!
It skipped across 4" of water like nothing and held a wheelie through a long puddle as it made huge rooster tails from the rear. Freaking awesome!

Made from a Tamiya Super Hornet front wheel, an Axial battery tray brace, some spacers and a steel pin. Took about 25 minutes from getting the idea in my head to finished product. Most of the time was spent rummaging around the parts box for useful pieces. Works great in conjunction with the Axial Hardline crawler body, which is super durable and round, making it great for high-speed off-road runs.
