This is going to be a "poor mans" gopro carbon mount...

Please note: This is not a beginner project. I am assuming you know a little about the epoxy composite fabrication process. This is a one-off plug, meaning that there is no molding needed. This process is great for making 1 part, but very time consuming if one was to make multiples. Please follow the rules on layup of the carbon fiber/epoxy mix as you would with any other fabrication process. Make sure to spread the epoxy on the surfaces before adding the carbon cloth as to make it stick properly.

Items needed:

Hobby grade epoxy glue. https://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=8460
HK Carbon fiber cloth https://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=10720
MicroBalloons http://www.amazon.com/Top-Flite-Micr.../dp/B0015H1FDI
A piece of FOAM (any foam even Styrofoam is good) with enough depth to make proper dimensions.
Acetone : to melt the foam later on
CA Glue (Foam Safe) : To glue the foam to add depth if the right size is hard to find, and to glue the foam inside the mount.

Optional:

Carbon Fiber front plate... https://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=10442 esthetically pleasing and perfectly straight. You can also make your own with 2 smooth glass pieces that you don't mind destroying. Lay up around 5 -7 pieces of the cf cloth,(Becomes around 1.5mm thick, the more you add the thicker it will become.) 45 degrees biased on the first glass pane and sandwich it...Continue Reading
