I have decided to post some shots of my squadron taken at my place with the bush around my house as it recovers from the fire on February 23rd. This shot is only 30 meters from the house.
This was taken yesterday and I'll post one each week for a while until I run out of planes.
This is a Wright 40 with a Saito 45 up front. Just a basic trainer.

Well since the fires two weeks ago we have had 30 MM of rain thats just over an inch. The grass has that green look ever so slight which stands out with all the black about.
On the day of the fire I had very little notice of the event. It started only 1500 yards from my house. A friend on the main ballan Daylesford road Rang with the news that the fire was on it way to my place. I loaded the dogs in the trailer and left, I met the fire only 700 meters from my place. I passed 3 Fire engins in foxes lane 3 minutes later I was out of the spotting areas. I had that sad feeling that I would never see my home again or the collection of models I have collected over past two and a half years. I went round to the main road and parked the car and dog trailer in a safe place. I crossed the road and helped fight the fire that was getting close to John house, John was away working in Melbourne 96km away. I spent time stopping the flames getting into the hay stack. Around 30 minutes had passed since I started at Johns place. One of the fire engins needed local knowledge of the area so I went with the unit to show them the best track to use to get back to the fire frount . After we had arrived at the area they were looking for I walked back towards the car By this time around ! hour had passed. On my way back a girl asked if I was OK. which I was, anyway I said do you have a bike, Yes was the answere so 2 minutes later I was on my way down through the fire to just see what was left at...Continue Reading
