So I got this Starmax/Exceed F15 foam airframe from a guy at a Flea Market for $20 awhile back......Could not pass it up. This version is really old, I think - best I could tell this was produced over 10 years ago. It was the airframe only version and all the pieces were there so I got nothing to lose. I set it up as a chucker like most of my EDF's and we will see how it goes. The color of this thing from the factory is awful. Maybe it's just me. Anyway here are some pics. I decided on a desert camo look for my old eyes and the paint is really cheap. Right up my alley. Made some mods as I always do. Hogged out enough foam to get a decent sized Lipo in there (and get it moved way forward). I am thinking about cutting the top cockpit off for easier access. I hate turning the thing over to change batteries. It should be decent. Not a speed demon by any means (my guess is 80-85 no dive but I hope it is faster) and most of these foamy EDF's with thick trailing edges are really stable if you can give them enough power for it to be fun to fly. Some pics below.

Notice the pic of the nose cone??? They added over 3oz of weights in there? Holy ....Just make room for a bigger lipo next time.....sheesh! It's no wonder this thing was a dog out of the box!

Mostly finished pics at the bottom....

Any of you guys have or had this model? Any thoughts?

Got this Stone Blue P-51 kit in the classifieds here because it looked like the old Potensky foamies that were available about 15 years ago. I guess this plane has been discontinued for a few years because I could not find anything on it. No directions, just a box of foam and some spars and a few other things. The seller also posted a how-to video but this must have been an early version because the parts in my kit did not match the plane in the video.

Anyway here is what was I purchased.....

...and the finished product....The paint came out really nice, much better than I expected.

My family and I were lucky enough to be able to have another beach vacation last week on Fripp Island. I wasn't sure how "flyable" the beaches were going to be but it turned out to be great (but only at low tide!). We also got very lucky with the weather.

I took a of my few jets, my Acromaster and of course my EZ Star clone One thing about this particular area was that high tide pretty much wiped out the entire beach area, so you could only fly at low(er) tide. The sand was great for a runway though....so flat and packed My kids loved all the wildlife on the island...check the pics below. The beaches on Fripp are pristine. Also, it's not everyday you can hand feed an 8 point buck in the wild!...Continue Reading

So I now have about 18-20 flights on the Kyosho T33A 48" ws that I got a few years ago from a member here. My set up is as follows:

Stock 75mm fan (minus spinner)
Balanced rotor
Mega 16/15/3
CC PH 60
4S 3300mah 20C - 30C
AUW 39.5 oz

Reading earlier discussions on RCG regarding this exact setup, I was under the impression that the stock fan would explode at around ~500 watts. Maybe I'm just lucky so far because when I ran the numbers tonight on my watt meter I got the following on a fresh pack:

53A
753 watts

After 10 seconds.....Settled to:

47A
715 watts

The Mega is only rated at a max of 35a, (I think?). I rarely use full throttle not even during hand launch so maybe it will last. I estimate the top speed is in the mid 70's, maybe a bit faster if I do a fast pass early in the flight.

This is one of the best flying models I have ever flown. It tracks so good and is very predictable. Landing is easy too, it slows down nice.

After getting lucky enough to find a used Kyosho T33, I have removed the brushed power system and I'm going with a mega on 4s. From other reports of this system, it should be decent.
