I got a new kit. Can't wait to put it together. I got a lot of building to do first though.

I need a smaller, heavier, faster ship for the winter months and big days at the slope. Not sure where to get a nice Lead sled type plane. I know what I want to build though. It gonna start with a 72" WS 8"chord RG 15 wing. Actualy I am gonna do 2 and lay them up fairly heavy. I will do a 4oz uni d-box for a spar, Cover that with 12k spread tow 5.7 oz skins with 2oz glass on that to smooth it all out.

I would like to do a 2 piece wing and am thinking a 1/2" square steel joiner could be enough. What a pain though building the joiner boxes and getting them tied into the spar. I think this would be better for a molded wing and a endgrain balsa carbon capped spar. Anyway probably do her up Quick and dirty with a 1 piece wing.

So I got some CNC cores from Steven Siem fof Cybermodel and have been playing around with them. Just finished one of his Suntoucher wings in all glass for a beautiful natural finish. Stuck it on a Neos fuse I got from XWingnut and went and tossed her up. Pretty decent launch considering no tuning and a 11mm thick wing. The ram3 said 120' consistently, not too shabby since I only launch my Zone wing to 135'-140'.

Check out the sweet Pink inlays wich can be done in diferent designs also. The resin holding the inlay in seems to stiffen the trailing edge considerably. Oh yeah, even with generous root and tip doublers the wing was 116 grams dry and with 4 full length spars per side nice and stiff.

I also got a bunch of Tail cores and have got my layup schedule down pretty good. I have gotten a consisitent 12 gram set the is plenty stiff. Guys who have seen them in person seem to like them. now I am working on getting them with paint and still light enough.

In February at the swap meet in Monroe I picked up an old scratchbuilt DLG from Dang. After repairing it and flying it for a couple months I decided to check out SASS's Handlaunch contest in May. Boy that was a ball! What a great crowd to learn to fly thermals with.

I have been slowly getting goodies together to start scratch building some of these sweet composite gliders. A couple of buddies have shown some interest in the construction also. We are just starting to get some nice finished product and are very excited to fly some new stuff and make some more. Here are a couple of pics of my second decent wing out of a bag.

OK, I got to spend my birthday and three days before that at Cape Blanco with the family(Feb. 20-23). I got to fly three of the days, the last day was the best with no rain and 40 mph winds. Wow what a fun place to fly and hang out! Here is a few pics.

Here is a little video I made with my Multiplex fun cub. We went down and flew by the river a couple of Sundays ago. We had a ball. This thing is so fun to fly off a rough surface and the views of Mount Si were very nice.

Last February we got to stay at Cape Blanco Oregon for a few days. What a treat, a bit cold but also very windy. It was incredible. Got a few Pics. Hope to go to slopefest in 2012.

So I have been flying for about a year and a half. I just can't kick the habit. I started with a Ember 2, built a few scratchbuilt foamies, put together a funcub a couple months later And now its all over (the house and the shop that is). I fly in the house, in the yard, at a big field 5 minutes from home, at the flying field 40 minutes from home, any parking lot or field that looks fun. I just want to fly all the time!

So far the only treatment that has worked has been - Building more airplanes or flying. I don't know what to do. Luckily my wife isn't threatening to leave or anything like that.
