I did a review on the HGLRC ELF Camera that is included in the HGLRC XJB F428-TX20-ELF package on GotHeliRC.com. https://www.gothelirc.com/products/3...sc-vtx-camera/

The XJB F428-TX20 stack is $71 but with this camera included it's $84 so it's a great deal! Both have free fast shipping as well!!

As you see in this review, I believe this is either made by the same factory as the RunCam or they cloned it but HGLRC is a small company so I don't think they have the ability to clone a camera like this so they probably bought the camera.

Either way I found this camera to be better for color and I liked the fit of the lens on it as opposed the RunCam.

HGLRC ELF Camera Review VS RunCam Swift Micro I have a winner that may shock you. (11 min 37 sec)

I really liked the look of the GEP frames and thought I would try them out. Luckily GotHeliRC.com started to carry them so I bought the 139mm version from them. As usual the package came well packed and with fast shipping. The first thing I noticed when I opened the box was how nice the fit and finish was on the frame and the on the frame printing of the camera angles was a very nice touch.

At first I was going to put in a HGLRC XJB F428 TX20 ELF All-in-One TOWER but there wasn't one available in the US. I ended up talking GotHeliRC.com into carrying HGLRC products but they didn't have the small stack in when I did this build.

I ended up using components from previous builds plus a HGLRC F3 V3.1 that had been sitting on my bench for some time.

Components used:

  • DYS 1306 4000kv motors
  • Racestar 20amp 4 in 1
  • TBS Unify Pro with old custom antenna directly soldered on
  • FRsky FrSky X4R-SB depinned
  • RunCam Swift Micro
  • Lumenier props 3040 props

Running the above components was going to be a very very tight build but I knew with some thought and persistence it could be done.

Once again a Walkera Mod...

I wanted a smaller headset that could accommodate glasses. I've looked around and most are of the refrigerator box type like my current headplays. I found some Walkera Goggle 4s on Feebay for $60 that I think were used for a review or something because the clear plastic wrap was still on them and they looked as though they were never used. They came in the original box which also looked new

Anyway I tried them out and found the following:

1. Not comfortable on the cheek bones
2. A lot of light leaking in from around the face pads, vents in the sides, around the split in the middle of the two halves and also through the white plastic.
3. The screen looked distorted and kind of bland
4. The receiver was Blah... Even with my patches, 12 turn helical!!!, Airblades, Mad Mushroom, aomways and the TrueRC X2 air antenna.... it still wasn't very good
5. Battery is not changeable!!!

I did find some positives
1. Light on the head
2. Nice form factor
3. Voltage display on the screen that blinks to let you know when the battery is close to dying
4. Overall nice looking

As with all things Walkera... you have to Mod their stuff to make it right. This goes back all the way to 2006 when I first flew their 4#3 copters. Nothing Walkera makes is 100% done and nothing they make is fully thought out. They are great for coming up with nice looking designs but usually fail in execution, customer service and quality control. If Walkera was...Continue Reading
