Unoccupied house on county/park land. First time at this location. . . nerves got the better of me and it ended with a low alt flip into the asphalt. 3 HQ 950 props swim with the fishes now.

Wow. Can't believe I didn't do this sooner. Why on earth doesn't FS make these in 1.3 as an option? Simplifies everything.

If you fly in the brush, like I do, and hate setting up a standard GS (even one in a backpack), you will love this module. Plugs right into your Dominators.

Using ezUHF in the video, btw. Before flying, I fully shielded the module bay with copper tape (same stuff in my DiY PCB Vee antenna blog post). I think this helps with any 433mhz interference. Very simple. I'll post pics of this later.

Playing around with Final Cut. Just cruising around. More editing than acro.

Really like TM2216 1100KV on this frame. Was only flying a Vee, so I was limited on where I could go in this brush. This was the second FPV outing on this frame.

Warning: There is no polarity protection in this setup. I always triple check every connection, just to make sure power goes to power, ground to ground, and signal to signal. Then, I check once more.

This is a modular approach to assembling a FPV rig.

This method allows me to easily move pieces in and out as needed. I've never had a connection failure with this method.

For me, this simplified the wiring involved quite a bit. Adding an OSD to a rig is as simple as crimping a standard female servo connector and plugging it into the bus in the correct location (between the flight cam and vTX).

To build your own bus, you'll need two items.
1. Right angle 3x40 breakaway headers ~$5 or less
2. ST3U StripBoard-3U, Uncut Strips, 1 Sided PCB, 3.94 x 6.30 in (100 x 160 mm) ~$10 at

I like using three strand servo wire. Polarity is color coded . It's very easy to notice if something is connected incorrectly.

Black: ground (-)(always the pin closest to the edge of a PCB board)
Red: power(+)(always the middle pin)
White: Signal(V or A) Always pin farthest away from edge of board.

Updated flight camera test footage. For some reason, resolution on the flight camera was reduced by FCPX. The image is a lot better through the goggles.

Vee Antenna Test & FPV Tuning (7 min 47 sec)

Haven't tested this at the field yet, but here's some video I shot earlier today.

Used adhesive backed copper guitar shielding tape. The solder will burn off the adhesive at the attach point. I used thick CA+Hotshot to adhere it back to the PCB. Zip tie to further secure against damage.

Element Length: 48.7mm
Element Width: 4.25mm

GS was inside my house, on the second floor, in my workroom. GS antennas were not aimed, just sitting in my FPV backback and I plugged in 3S and did a quick test flight.

Results weren't too bad. Had a MM and CH on the GS. I'm hoping it's be much better at my normal flying location.

I think we're finished with the nasty weather, the last small dust of snow was this past Monday.

Putting the final pieces onto my 400mm quad. I'm hoping to get some fresh footage up by the weekend.

In the meantime, this was the final video before Old Man Winter went coo-coo on the EZ Coast!

I've had this one for about a year, just sitting in pieces. Finally put her together and did a quick maiden today.

HK 12A (flashed w/SimonK)
MT2208 1200KV
GF 845 Nylon props
Acro Naze

Weighs about 1/2 of what my HT Flip Sport weighs. Looking forward to better weather.
