BLACKTHUNDER QUAD

Just another fun project and I have been planning this configuration for a while. Not much to say for this is really a simple and easy build and you guys can build this with your eyes close.

This is just my version and it's really interesting and fun project and pretty powerful with 4S.

I have been amazed on how the E019 PARAGLIDER was configured and the motor placement was really unique and I can't help myself and build a UP-SCALED version of it by using a KK2.1.5 FLIGHT CONTROLLER.
I am not interested on the parachute or the rider so, it's out of the plan.

It's a pretty unique platform and needs some getting use to it when flying for it's really not very familiar flyer for me. Might need some tuning but, surely it can fly .

SPECS:
KK2.1.5 FC * 4X T-MOTOR MT2208-10 1850KV * 4X MAYTECH 20A ESC'S * 4X 9 INCH GF PROPS * GENS ACE 2200Mah 3S Lipo * 1X SCRATCHBUILT PLATFORM (ALUM / WOOD BOOMS / CF FC BASE/ 500 HELI LG.

UPDATE : AUGUST 29, 2019

Eliminate both top motor aluminum bracket stand to make motors closer to lower motors and still fly as nothing happened.

I am testing the water on building model hovercraft and decided as my first build the GRIFFON 2000TD Model hovercraft. I have zero knowledge on this area but, with a good plan and a buddy of mine HARRY HOLT has been a very patient guy to gave me some advice all the way from Thailand.

Not like with Multi-rotors, this build is just taking too much time for me and with zero knowledge 'bout it....it took forever for me to build. It's a huge platform at 1060mm long and 500mm wide.

Materials:
I bought this insulation foam board 1" thick and cut it to size for the deck and used a regular foam for the cabin. I did not follow the regular round duct for the thrust motor for I want it to look different and use wood for the vanes for rudder. I used a REVERSIBLE Esc for the thrust motor with 10" 3 blade prop to be able to run reverse if needed.

Here is the plan:

First off, the title says Dualcopter* Next level simply because this platform is using a DUALCOPTER Motor LAY-OUT. As same old story, someone will argue that this is NOT a dualcopter anymore for it has 3 motors now ,whatever makes you happy call it anything you want.
I have been building same old pre-historic dualcopters with 2 motors and it's same old boring platform and decided to bring it to the next level and added a 3rd bigger motor at the bottom for extra push going up. Both servo direct drive smaller motors can handle the platform weight but, with added third motor, it's making it more easy for them for they are only using a 7" tri blade props and the third bigger motor is using a 9" prop.

SPECS:
Mini KK2.1 RC911 R4 SL MIX Fw / 2x HXM2730 3000KV Motors / 2x HK 30A SimonK ESC's / 1x 20A ESC's ( 3rdMOTOR) / 2x POWER UP 17g Analog SERVOS / 2x 7 " HQ Tri props / 1x 9" APC Prop / 1x 13 " MTM Scratchbuilt Platform

Not much to say, just another fun build with added twist to a PENTACOPTER platform. Originally design by Nebbian of this thread but, added another horizontal motor for more yaw control.
Can't complain the way it's flying and something not so boring to fly.

Will add the specs later or maybe not.

One of my favorite platform is the tricopter and with the right and correct tuning , it's one of the best acro flyer too and it's very easy to build and tune.

With just couple of channel reversing on the TX , we can have a tricopter to fly in reverse like the servo out and here is mine .

I have built a reverse tricopter a while back with different frame and this one has the side to side twin motors higher or elevated from the single one.

SPECS:

KK2.1.5 RC911 SL MIX R4 / SUNNYSKY'S V2216-12 800KV MOTORS / HK 30A SIMON K ESC'S / CORONA DS329 HV MG SERVO / APC 10" PROPS / SCRATCHBUILT FRAME * 16MM CF BOOMS* GF MOTOR MOUNTS* 450 HELI LG.

As much as I like tilt quads, this platform has the most PITA to build and the belt is just very annoying for me, IDK 'bout those other guys but, I am just NOT a fan of the belt system. So , I decided to modify mine into a NON-BELT unit . With the belt, it has lot's of play and I eliminated it by modifying it to direct drive.
Motors has been extended out to be able to use a larger props.
The tilt response on this non-belt system is fast and smooth and with the TGY 210 DMH Metal Gear Servo, it's just a very fun flyer and responsive.

SPECS:
UNCASED KK2.1 HC / 4- DYS 20A BL HELI / OPTO ESC'S / 4- TMOTOR MN2213 950 KV ( 3DR ISSUE MOTORS) / 1- TURNIGY TGY 210 DMH METAL GEARS SERVO / 4- 9" GF PROPS / 1- ZTW 3A UBEC / THE TILT MODIFIED SYSTEM FRAME

To celebrate the summer, I decided to do a summer fun build and just to remember a little something.
All parts was on hand so ,I cut a unique 2 part Aluminum frame fitted with a 450 heli black LG with painted wood for the main boom making the whole platform lighter.
She flew the way I was expecting it and pretty fun to fly...

Maybe the food was bad or something but, this idea came from nowhere and I was not expecting it to fly but, it did. I have built a few of the Chinook platform and I was getting bored of it and decided to go with another motor placement. With a little tweaking on the mixer editor and PI settings ,it did flew and the agility of the rudder was totally amazing.

SPECS :
Mini KK2.1.5. (Custom Mixes) / 4x: SunnySKY's X2245-16 2300Kv / 4x : DYS 20A BL Heli OPTO Esc's / 2x : FliteTEST Yaw system / 2x : Emax ES3104 Servos / 4x : 8 inch GF White PROPS / ZTW 3A BEC / 450 HELI Modified Platform

Just having another fun build stretching a 250mm (approx. 9") frame using T6 Aluminum to 12 inches platform. Only the CF frame was replaced and all the VQ250 components are being used.

Not much to say and I can't complain the way it's flying and with 3 switch mode on my TARANIS PLUS , it can fly straight horizontally on fast forward flight for racing and can switch back to a normal quad if needed.

One of my favorite flyer is the VQ250 V1 (VectorQuad) that I built a while back and because I don't fly FPV, it's just too small to fly it LOS. So , I decided using it's components to build a larger platform to better see it LOS flying.

Original VQ250 V1 dimension:
Rear motor to Front - 6 inches
Motor 1 to 2 - 8 inches

Modified Platform:
Rear motor to Front - 10.5 inches
Motor 1 to 2 -10.5 inches

Specs:
Mini KK2.1.5 RC911 R4 SL-MIX / T-MOTORS MT2208-10 1850 KV / 20A MAYTECH-BL HELI / FRSKY V8R7-II- TARANIS PLUS TX / GF MAIN FRAME W/ CF BOOMS / 8 INCHES COMPOSITE PROPS / TGY-210DMH SERVO

Been gathering my guts to do and fly acro on a Dualcopter for a while now and this platform did what it's design for. I was not totally sure that the maiden will go as plan so I took the landing gear off just to think ahead if it will crash then my landing gear will not be destroyed.

So simple platform and made of salvage parts but, the yaw system and motors are new. Something that I will not care crashing if things will not go as I wanted.

With RC911 R4 SL MIX fw, acro flying is made easy and the maiden went pretty well but, I did a pretty stupid move at the end. There was no landing gear and the only choice I have was to catch it by hand .

SPECS:
Mini KK2.1.5. RC911 R4 SL-MIX FW / TGY MULTI-STAR 20A BL HELI ESC's / T-MOTOR MN2213 950KV / FLITE TEST YAW SYSTEM
EMAX ES 3154 SERVOS / GF 10 " WHITE PROPS / GENS ACE 3S 2200 MAH LIPO / SCRATCHBUILT PLATFORM

If you are stuck on this hobby building same pre-historic multi-rotor configurations, I am inviting you to spice it up by building newer configuration like this IN-LINE BICOPTER with Chinook type body. If you are talented enough to make a fuselage then this project is perfect for you. Wish I have the talent but, I don't and I will just end this project like this.

Specs are the same as the 1ST build, even the MTM @ 19 inches. The Sunnyskys motors made this platform super smooth and with the FiteTEST yaw system, it's just totally perfect.

lot's of rain lately here in Cali and I took the wasted indoor time to build this unit.Originally designed and this the third version and I think it's totally a fun flyer too.

Same as traditional dualcopter,it's pretty cheap to build. This is flying a KK2.1 with RC911 R7 Fw (Zip Files) with the added Dualcopter Chinook on the motor layout and set Mixer Editor.

SPECS: Turnigy D2836/9 950 KV / MayTech 20A ESC's / MINI KK2.1 w/ RC911 R7 FW / Flite Test yaw system w/ ES3104 Servos / 10" GF Props

First off, not my design. A friend of mine pointed me on this project (Nebbian) of Tom Stanton at YT and the design catches my attention and time is on my side so I decided to build my KK2 version and see if I could get it to the air. With total PID tweaking, it did flew and nothing to complain and handles pretty well on a tight space.

Tom uses 3D printer for some of his parts, like the yaw system, motor mounts and servo mounts and LG's but, I have no 3D printer and honestly,I'm not a fan of 3D printers. So ,I built mine with Flite test yaw system, wood and Alum. LG and more as showed in the pix.

Specs:
KK2.1.5. Mini / 2x : Sunnysky X2212-13 980 KV / Emax ES3104 Servos / 2X : Flite test yaw system / Scratchbuild Platform

As a STAR WARS fan , I was really tempted to do this project. I was not sure if I can make it up in the air but, it did to my surprised. This is the stock toy replica that I got from Amazon for like less than $30. I have no choice but to take out some parts inside for weight reduction for it's on the heavy side and disable the firing mechanism.

Not the best conversion but, it does fly and I can't complain.

After 5 years on this hobby, I have built countless of Multi-rotors, all configurations and my own designs and configurations/mixes. Sadly, I am at the point that this hobby is really getting boring and my interest is almost gone. Time might come that I will totally retire and RC-Plane flying is not on my menu and it has not catch-up with me.

I have built some bicopters/dualcopters and it's one of the most interesting configuration and the most simple thing to build for it has the least parts and really cheap to build and for some /most guys,it's the most disappointing and frustrating project and mostly just gave up on it.

I have all of my build on this compilation and if you are interested, you are very welcome to see them here.

Here is another evolving platform project that's a little interesting . Not much to say about it, all specs are the same on the EVOLVE 02 ,just another platform that is catching dust. One thing I added was installing my RC3 on this for aerial fun video and I guess the video was just fine.
By looking at the pictures ,all I did was move the whole motor and yaw assembly to the dismantled tower quad frame ,connected all the electronics and that's it, nothing special....just another fun build.

Lastly , the name NINELEVEN was to remember all the people that died during that day....and it's the day I started this project.

Here are some close-up pix .
Maiden video will be added next.

Not much to say really. Just another fun build of a BICOPTER/DUALCOPTER flyer with a recycled frame that is catching dust and with all NEW Parts on hand.

This build LOG is getting really boring so, on my CLOSE-UP Pix, I have my pet leather back bearded dragon all over the bicopter platform but, you can still see the platform-LOL.
