Dollar fifty Lipo voltage monitor / alarm (1 min 55 sec)

I got my other Voltage monitor alarm ..
This one was $1.50
Lets put that in perspective , a Snikers Bar costs $2 retail over here ! So for less than the cost of a Snikers bar !

Why would you want this ? ( Why not ? )
If you were say into electric boats , why would you not have a voltage alarm set so you had plenty of time to bring the boat back to shore ..
Who the parking lot wants to swim out (?) 30 meters to retrieve a boat with a flat battery ( No people actually do that )
Another form of RC where it could save you $$ and some grief is if you flew Helicopters or quads ..

Anyhow ...

I like this one , it's loud enough to be annoying
Very easy to use
( with the monitor facing you / pins at the bottom plug in you balance cord negative to the far left pin )
Has a decent button to set the voltage level for the alarm
1-8s
Monitors each cell independently
First cell to reach set voltage sets off the alarm
The price , $1.50 ... Seriously !

Not so great is
The plastic sleeve the monitor has ( its a dirt magnet - especially with a buggy )
LCD , hard if not impossible to see in bright light ( are not all )
Struth ! @ $1.50

SHAHE Digital Calipers from Banggood (4 min 1 sec)

https://goo.gl/vLc8es = Product page .

I love measuring tools , especially accurate measuring tools . For about 30 years now I have owned calipers and I just don't know how I could possibly have gotten on without such . Dial or Digital calipers may not be the most supremely accurate tools in the world , and there may be some variance from one to the next but that does not matter if you use just the one as long as the measurement is consistent and repeatable .

I have for a long time thought about a better or higher grade of digital caliper so when Banggood offered me the opportunity to review the SHAHE calipers I could simply not resist the opportunity . I have owned / do own quite a few calipers already and the idea of adding another caliper was just to good to resist . What comes in the plastic case is a very nice caliper / two batteries / a plastic tool for removing the battery cover / a test certificate / and instructions in Chinese .

Not sure how useful the instructions are but the calipers are very easy to use . Simply by opening the jaws the calipers will turn on , all the user needs to so is clean the surfaces of the jaws and zero the calipers . Then simply chose if you wish to measure imperial or metric . ( It really is that simple ) . Now since the calipers turn on automatically , how long does it take them to turn off automatically --- 6 minutes is what I got . ( That's a little on the...Continue Reading

Reversing beeper mod (0 min 57 sec)

Driving has become so Dangerous here in Melbourne Australia :

People are in such a hurry they are prepared to DIE or KILL not to get where they are in a hurry to get to ... ( Sad but true )
And one of the worst places ( lots of stupid ) is the car park ..
So feeling like I have little recourse , I have scaled up my safety with a reversing beeper ..

If the idiots can't see me reversing ? Maybe they can hear me ? ( I don't know )
Perhaps it just makes me feel safer ?

BX100 Voltage monitor / Alarm (1 min 9 sec)

Been thinking about a Voltage monitor / alarm for a while ..

What I like
1s to 8s
Large voltage range for alarm
Alarm is loud ( possibly annoying )
Very light weight
This one has a case

What I dont like
Very tiny little button for setting the Alarm voltage .
No instructions ..

On receiving the BX100 there were no instructions included
So exactly which way do you plug in your balance plug ?
With the BX100 facing you , pins at the bottom , neg ( - ) from the left pin ..

Seriously , loving the BX100
Not sure its really needed for a buggy , for a Electric helicopter or RC plane it would be fantastic ...
Set the alarm at a voltage level that gives you plenty of time to land ..

Alarm is set to single cell voltage ( for example 3.3v )
So which ever cell reaches 3.3v first triggers the alarm .
Also the BX100 shows the total voltage and individual cell voltage .. ( Cycles )
For the lowly sum of $3 ozzi bananas , what a fantastic little accessory ...

I ordered a 2s 1500mAh battery for my WLtoys 12428 Crawler ..
It got here at last the other day .. ( Now I can have twice as much fun )

I never use a battery untested :
So here goes ,

I charged the battery @ 0.5 amp till it was fully charged .
I then discharged it to check capacity as well as how well the cells were matched ..
Discharging to 6v @ 0.5 amp one cell was 3.5v and the other cell was 2.5v .. ( not a good showing )

Recharged the battery @ 0.5 amp till its fully charged
Then discharged once again @ 0.5 amp to see at what point the imbalance kicked in
All was good till about 3.66v ( individual cell voltage )
By the time one cell was 3.63v the other was 3.53v .. ( 1120 mAh discharged )
I stopped the discharge right there and then , and went back to charging the battery @ 0.5 amp ...

I did not cycle the battery again ..
But rather went to bed , and then threw the battery in my WLtoys 12428 Crawler buggy ..

VOK1500 2s Lipo Battery Test (3 min 50 sec)

The video shows my running the VOK 2s in the WLtoys , and then checking the battery after depleting it ..
Cells were about 3.222v and 3.183v ...
Currently charging the battery @ 0.4 amp ( balance charging - Is there any other way ? )
