Purchased a Parkzone P51 airframe from a local hobby shop and received the conversion kit from K&A Models. I've completed one before and the conversion was simple. I used a foam shell coating product from WOW Planes on the last one and didn't really care for the extra weight so I decided to do another, hopefully a little lighter. Decals secured from Callie Graphics for the West by Gawd Virginian.

RCGroups member Moonbeam has done a real nice set of videos on you tube on painting and conversion tips for this model definately worth checking out.

Look forward to adding one of these converted models to the hanger again. Sooo let the conversion begin.

Pulled the trigger on this model a couple of weeks ago. Purchased the airframe from PW-RC. First time I've ordered from them and the order was received promptly....around 10 days from Hong Kong which I thought was pretty good. No damage during shipping...always a big plus.

Assembly was very simple no surprises here. Assembly hardware was fair nothing to write home about but it worked.

Maidened the bird this weekend and it was great. My knees were knocking so hard I thought I'd fall down. However after I calmed down the model flys like a dream with no nasty tendencies.....I'm very impressed with this FMS beauty. Flying totally stock out of the box with a 4s 3300mah Hyperion battery and a Optima 6 receiver. For overall value and flight characteristics this airframe is a steal!

I'm a Mustang nut and it's been very difficult for me to decide on which large foam P51 to push the buy now button. Which one FMS or Starmax??...You may ask yourself...what made him choose the Starmax........Well I'm glad you asked.....

I'm a Bluenoser freak and the FMS Petie the 2nd V6 was very appealing to me. However it seems after following the threads that the Bluenoser FMS model V6 is a tough model to track down. So I pulled the trigger on the Starmax Big Beautiful Doll...

Delivery time was excellent roughly eight days from California...received in prestine condition.

My game plan is to replace the weak factory installed retracts with the 514's that I purchased from Hobby King (after following the excellent thread for this model) and flying with the rest of the supplied equipment. Does this frustrate me you may ask????? The answer of course.......Absolutely!!! However in my mind the Starmax remains a good value for the money in my opinion despite the fact I needed in my mind to spend another $30.00 US dollars on upgraded retracts.

So as I begin my assembly we'll see....

As a side note as time goes on I may purchase the FMS Bluenoser if availablity is not a question with me.

After my initial shock of the color mismatch I decided to do something about it besides sitting around in a pool of tears. With some weathering and dullcute I'm sure the origional color would have been acceptable.

However I decided to paint the model to my liking with Krylon Fusion silver and blue, which has worked out better than expected. The invasion stripes were added with Tamiya paints run through my airbrush. Decals secured through Callie Graphics which I'm very pleased with.

Looking forward to continuing the assembly of the airframe including electronics and retractable tail wheel (Robart 122).Never dealt with a retractable tail wheel before so it'll be a learning experience. If the plane flys as well as it looks it'll have a top ranking in my hanger.

As of late I've been dabbling in the EDF (Electric Ducted Fan) world. My first EDF purchase was a Kyosho Illusion it was a lot of fun but I drifted away from the EDF scene for awhile.

Yesterday to my delight the F9F arrived at my door step. Delivery time was pretty good roughly eight days. The box was packed well with no damage to the model during shipping.

Assembly took 2 hours allowing for plenty of time for the epoxy to dry. Construction was pretty much straight forward with no suprises. Looking forward to getting it in the air. I've included a photo of the finished model along side my Hobby Lobby F86 for a size reference. Happy Flying hope to get this baby in the air soon.

My P47 is set up with the Hyperion 4035-10 on a 15x8. My battery pack is two 3 cell TP 4500 mah harnessed up together located within the belly pan. A CC80 esc tops off the power plant. I chose to run the electronics with a standard receiver battery.

Airplane is a dream to fly, very predictable looks and feels great in the air. Landings are simple and very scale like. Recently I've started flying the Jug on regular bases. Forgot how much fun it was to fly and how great it looked in the air.
