Well thought I should put this in my blog.

The Truggy runs amazing! So smooth and quiet now... The diffs must have been worn out a lot before! Not one problem now when running, just fun .

Complete rebuild every screw other than the engine.

Just wanted to keep a personal record/note.

20/8/2008

Dragonus 450

Flies absolutely perfect. First flight on Radix. Set up swash using new method.

KB tail blades = awesome tail hold, 0 bounce, crisp precise and makes a awesome sound.

Scorpion 2221 -8 V2
Kong Power 3S 2200 25C/30C (mainly)
Hitec HS-65 MG's
Align 35X
Medusa 6V eBEC
Spektrum AR6100e + Spektrum DX7
KB neon orange tail blades
Tail weight mod (alu balls, got steel waiting for test)
JR DS3500G + Logictech 2100T
Max 3D CNC head setup.
E-Copter flybar cage.
1.5mm Carbon frames

Very, very, very precise, pixel precision you could say.

Today I done some stationary side tic tocs, the poor motor cried in bogging but that'll change soon. Done about ten in a row.

Need to get my head around "skid in" tic tocs, more sim practice needed.

Flying is getting smoother, lower, better. Perhaps too low .

Done my first tail down tic-tocs today, my last pack (4th pack) of the day.

Done about 2 in a row tops, but a number of times.

I had the most scariest of fears that my tail would kick out because of my HS-65 on tail and lack of headspeed with all the motor bogging. Both will be fixed soon.

I think I'll leave it until I get my 3400G servo and new pinion for my Scorpion -8 V2.

What a noise, just done my first sideways tic-tocs! Noise like nothing before! This is what I fly for . Big smile, that's always good!

Just had another two pack session today, man amazing, shaking way to much I don't know what's wrong with me... I hovered it inverted tail in for the first time, I also done a half loop and kept it hovering nose in for a few secs (I hate nose in inverted).

Backwards flight I'm working on, I can do it on the sim but it's not to easy at faster speeds in real life...

Also done a stallturn/flip/piro thing which made a awesome noise it was actually just a strange backflip I done with a twist!

Got a little close to the ground inverted, not enough negative but was easy to sort out . (Looked cool though)

I'll be cutting my grass soon (expensive ).

Smiling like crazy, I had to have a rest on the second pack because I was shaking to much, still am now!!! I think I should stop watching crashes on youtube!!!

Man, such a nice day today. Flew my first lipo giving the heli a real stable hover using subtrim, as there was no wind today.

2nd lipo I took my Dragonus 450 for a spin, man what a nice feeling having a stable hover gives you, it tracked better in FFF and rolled better. (Unless that was just because there was no wind!)

Well spent most of the 2nd lipo rolling her, half way through I started doing double rolls, I didn't even have to think about it I just done it, natural sim instincts!!

So done about 5 of the double ones and about 8 single rolls at a guess.

I even held her inverted between one single roll for about 3 seconds!!!

What fun, and to finish it all off I done my first backflip ever! Easy, more so than rolls I think!

What a difference the weather makes on my flying!

Can't wait until the lipos cool down so I can charge them fast .

Felt like a real nice achievement, just had to make a memory.

First proper smooth rolls today, I went to the field with my dad and thought what the heck let's give it a ago after my first lipo. As I was already good at doing upright flight in all directions and FF/FFF.

There I was, going to the right direction of myself at a pretty hefty speed, I just stuck in full right cyclic, got it around (OH GOD!!) added some negative like in the sim, and she went around, easily nice and fast and my god what a sound!!!! (best part by far!) Roll rate was just right, although a little faster would make it easier but it might bleed off to much HS.

I have to admit my heart was going crazy, I think I done another roll but then I had to go land it because I was shaking to much!!!

Gave it a few secs and took her back up and done some more, on my last one I got a little close to disaster, I started at to much of a forward angle and she lost a bit of height, luckily I recovered her well!

Going to keep practising these when the weather gets better and perhaps then move on to lower down ones and/or stationary ones!

Put a smile on my face walking all the way home, I think one of my most proudest moments, I think even more so than cracking nose in, as this one was instant glory!

Wish I recorded it now, I would just love to play it back for the noise .

Well guys, I'm getting much better at flying now!

I guess flying four packs a day is starting to pay off!

Now I finally have the tail wag sorted on my Dragonus (new servo) it's really sprung the confidence in my flying now! I also love the weather today, 1-2mph winds it's amazing. No having to fight the wind! Best two flights ever so far!

I can do nose in perfect now, can do steady slow round circles and I can do stall turns!

Today I even done five stall turns (about 2-3 rotations) with the tail exiting downwards! The sound was amazing, it echoed for a few seconds between the houses around the field!

Flying nose in with a CP helicopter is a big achievement for me, and my best so far. The confidence of being able to recover when I want is amazing.

Flips next! I've already tried one, but quit half way due to it going to one side.

On a side note I also got a job with my LHS today. Long hours though...

After my second big crash this month I ordered some new parts, spent a while fitting them then took it out again a few days later. Crashed again... The lack of power/headpseed/build quality is getting very annoying.

Skid broke, motor broke etc. Time for a new heli I think, I can do 3D/FF/FFF in the sim, why not this heli?

Pfft..

Lots of spares left, so not to sure if I will bring it back later. Otherwise I have tons or parts and spares to sell.

Dragonus time methinks . A previous owner on these forums of the Falcon 3D hovered and flew the Dragonus and thought it was just a different class, that made my choice...

Short life, from the end of July, at least it taught me to hover and I do love it in a way... Just sucks when you want to go forward somewhere.

Oh, and guess what, I've finally got rid of that tail wag, solution. Get a new heli...
