This is a Kyosho I bought used, in very good condition. Its a readyset version with the 27Mhz KT-6 transmitter and brushed 20T motor. The Orion NiMH batteries were just about revivable but lack some capacity.

My first ever proper hobby-RC was a Kyosho Wild Wheelie so it is a special feeling to own a Kyosho again more than 30 years later. I appreciate the Kyosho resources with good manuals and instructions on the website.

Kyosho Lazer ZX-5 bashing and crawling (2 min 12 sec)

It looks great in my opinion, and drives really well. The original installation shows true attention to detail regarding cables, servo tape application etc. and this makes me happy and Kyosho should be proud. The low speed control of the brushed ESC/motor combo is great but it overheats quickly when crawling.

The plastic, tyres etc feel slightly brittle probably due to age even if the car is not that old. It is definitely not as durable as my Traxxas cars, the salto broke the wing, cracked a rim and pulled a screw out of the chassis. I've done much worse crashes with all my other cars with no more damage than scratches. But it could be bad luck.

I might not yet upgrade to brushless as the car feels very harmonic and balanced with the G20 motor but I will fit a faster and stronger steering servo and some slightly larger wheels for ground clearance. The bigger wheels will also be better for controlling the attitude in jumps. I have a brushed 12T system somewhere and that might be just perfect for this car.

A video of the MERV. Low tide and sub zero combines to fun ice surfaces. A half lap around the Amund island (Amundön). This Traxxas E-Revo 1/16 is a brushed version with modifications listed further below:

It does not have a center diff and you can see it pushing (understeer) but on the other hand it does pretty well on the trail. This drive was unusually brutal but nothing broke except I found a ball bearing was damaged, the seal was broken and it was ruined by water and sand.

* "Pink" rear springs and "black" front springs

* Racerstar 540 ESC/Motor combo - ESC filled with silicon, fan removed, cooling fins bent to fit under the body, on/off switch removed and soldered a bridge the circuit board.

* Zippy Flightmax 2x 2200mAh in parallel.

* XT60 connectors, I strap the balance connectors to the rear body post to avoid them getting into the salt water

Camera is a Turnigy 2k (SJ4000+ rebrand) with SJcam FW update.
