7 Year Itch, think I will dust off some things that fly and see if I still have any chops left.

A Friend of mine, Scotty, is having a parking lot swap meet tomorrow June 1st. At the last minute I chose to bring some things out, to pay for my upcoming motorcyle race event. The location is in the city of Gardena CA. I will drop back by later today and post up the address. Here is a picture of the stuff I am going to bring out of my own.

got one small thing done tonight, and thats my mount for the two 1/4 scale servos in the Mustang. Cross grained and double layer glass cloth covered for strength. Over kill, but thats the way I like it.
Just not enough hours in the day.

trimmed off the excess cloth and sanded the surface, then went ahead and installed the ail on the plane and threw some kilz primer on it.

Did some fitting of the engine cowl on the Mustang. The gear mounts have set for the Hawg, so I grabbed a photo op, hmmm curious about the nose gear, as I did not do the initial trial and fit, it appears the nose gear is not going to work its present location, additionally if I move the nose gear up higher on the bulk head, that will make the nose sit even lower than it is. I presume so that once all the gear and batteries are installed that will settle the main springs a bit.

Well, had a great time at the track, managed not to lay the motorcycle down all day. JOY! Next trip to the track may be in May, but definitely will be in June, on the 30th.
Now back to modeling. Got some work done on the Mustang, the the engine firewall and mount is all done. Doing some light sanding and will start scaling up the panel lines for the wing and tail group. I owe Scott Raines aka "Scott Dog" big time, as usual he came through and helped me keep the project moving with my limited time to build. He did an immaculant job on the wing prep, gear doors, fuse join, and horizontal attachment.The fuse already has the panel lines, so I will be working on doing the rest of the planes panel lines.

Laid out the King cat to see what if anything needs to be done before I start in my Tuskegee Tribute paint scheme, then set it aside while I wait for the lottery to hit so I can buy the Titan SE I am going to power it with..

Got the main and nose gear hard mounts glued in the Hog as well, need two Titan SEs for this baby. Any sponsors out there?

well if it holds like this through the weekend, I will be able to make some more progress on the Mustang, if it breaks at all, I am gonna be wearing out tire tread on the motorcyle.

I have 4 builds going at the same time, a 1/4.5 scale D Mustang, the 1/5th Warthog in the picture below and a 1/5th scale Bearcat and my Tuskegee Tribute schemed Kingcat too.

Doing a couple hours a night when I can squeeze in the time, no rush for any of them as I have not made any solid plans to do any events this summer flying related, however, this weekend I will be on the Fontana Raceway track running my motorcyle JOY!

No rest for the weary.

Ever changing and ever non stopping. This time of the year my focus is on power related aircraft in preparation for the West Coast Festival, unfortunately this year I am going to have to miss it due to family commitments and other personal interests. However, I will be building like crazy and looking at other events to attend.

For any interested, a lot of my glider fleet is up for grabs, just make me a reasonable offer.

Well now that 2006 is put away, looking forward to another New Year. Will spend some time continuing to reduce my fleets, both power and slope and TRY to concentrate on just a few things, in the interest of space and project completions.

Now that I have the bulk of my back orders dealt with, I can get back on my own stuff. Will spend the next couple of months on slope related personal projects, then come first of the year, I will be heavily back into my Giant Scale, gas and turbine projects.
Kits will be prepared and delivered along side, as ordered.

No kidding, nothing makes you slow down more, than being totally and completely "unplugged". My Fiance' and I had an excellent 7 day voyage on The Royal Carribean Ship, Radiance of the Seas.
I highly recommend it to everyone.

Pt. Fermin;

My home site for slope soaring, one of the most talked about locations on the West Coast for getting in some of the best slope soaring anywhere is become a filth haven! The Fermin I knew of old was “territorial” at worst as most surfing and true sloping sites are, but Pt. Fermin was never unapproachable to non-local flyers, there was never the element of vile and profane gestures. Fermin was where you went to cut your teeth, where you went to strut your stuff, where you went to do your best, and be respected for trying. Fermin was where you went, just so that you can say, “I flew there”. Planes at Fermin had as much grass flying as it did air time once. Pt. Fermin made you proud to say that you got past the launch, and that you survived the landing.
NO LONGER. There is now a very small but loud group of “people” that have chosen to rebel-ize the flying area. This small group has chose alcohol consumption,
pot smoking and whatever else, things that do not make for a fun, clean and safe environment while calling themselves slope flyers. Shame on them all!

I personally will step up to bat, and will not continue to watch my home site degrade at the hands of a few “people”. They are all on notice as of now. Be it the double edge sword that it is, I will take the high road on this issue. I will make frequent trips to Fermin now to fly or not, and if the same small group of people want to continue on with their past actions, then they will have...Continue Reading
