So the new Graphene packs are all the rage as of now... I got some 1s 950 packs for my Easy Sky Mini B-17 and they have brought what I thought was dead and dying back to life!! It is a brushed motor set up and it made me think that the motors had begun to wear out. NOT EVEN!!! It was like a brand new plane! Not to mention being able to fly for almost 20 mins and never hitting LVC... So when the 4s 45c 2200mah packs went on sale for $23.99 I had to try them out as well.

So this isn't a scientific test but will be an overall impression of how I think it felt in flight. I used my hat cam with a Run Cam to record the flights. i normally fly the plane with 2 different packs. it draws 50amps so I use a 4s 25c 2200mah Gens Ace pack and a China Hobby Line 4s 30c 2200mah pack. While the Gens Ace pack has a lower C rating it is light with very low internal resistance. They actually behave like they have a much higher C rating than 25c... The China Hobby Line packs have been really good as well! They are a tad heavy for their size but the performance is very respectable! Especially when you see how little they cost... so here is the Graphene pack first...

Here are the videos of me running it up with the amp meter attached, a thrust test and letting you hear my balanced fan...

I finally got the 4092 1730kv motor installed. I had originally put it in the 5 stator red inrunner fan housing but it never did feel right and I wasn't able to get it balanced to my liking. It actually rubbed the housing from vibrating. So I took it out and had to actually sand out the inside of the new 8 stator fan housing that is used for the 8s set up. It was about 1mm too small and after a couple mins with a circular sanding wheel (I think plumbers and pipefitters uses these) I was able to get the motor in with no issue. I used the new rotor that came with it and it was pretty close to balanced when I installed it. Very little time was needed to get it sounding wonderful. It sounds a bit different than the other housing to me. Cleaner and more whoosh than before.

Also I have been using the Red Brick 200amp esc from hobby king. I hadn't been able to change up the settings at all because of the programming instructions being wrong. And according to the website there is no programming card for the Brick... or so I thought!! The Hobby King ESC progamming card was only a couple bucks and I figured that I would give it a try since a couple people on youtube have said that the throttle stick programming was the same as the Hobby King escs... so I got it and what do you know.... it works!!!! So I adjusted the esc timing to low and it changed the readings I was getting by about 10 amps. So now the set up has really come to life! I am getting 145amps peak and it settles...Continue Reading

The stock outrunner was not an option for me since I ordered the kit plus version. I needed a fan motor combo and first opted for a 3674 1700kv inrunner motor. flight performance was good but amp draw was really high. Several ESCs were blown trying to harness all of this power. So I did some searching and a friend actually found the Leopard 4082 1600kv motor. Much bigger which for this application could actually turn many more rpms than the stock fan with an out runner.

So I did some watt meter readings with my set up. My wattmeter has a 100amp limit so they may be off some.... but this is what I got none the less. The battery voltage stayed the same with the wattmeter disconnected so I am not sure if it is off or not.... it could be pretty dang close... so when I get a different way to check the amps I will post those results too

Half throttle

full throttle peak. I also left the throttle at full for 10 seconds and the numbers did not drop too much. The battery is well above where it needs to be. On a 6s that is 22.2v. I am well above that... Battery is a 6s 40c 5000mah. I also tried my new 6s 30c 6200mah pack and got almost identical numbers.

Here is a video of it performing as well... very good and having a low amp draw makes it even better...
