I guess some will wonder who I am and have chosen to look at my Blog.
A few people have it seems. So here is a brief run down.
I have been aeromodelling since I was ten years old.
I started with chuck gliders and progressed to C/L in my high school years.
I had a work related back injury and took an interest in Radio Control.
Still maintaining an interest in C/L Free Flight and progressing to Slope soaring.
I prefer to build my own models. ARF models dont hold any interest for me.
Flying is not all of what this hobby is about for me.
Building models and talking about construction techniques is where its at for me.
Balsa and tissue, EPP foam gliders all have their special challenges.
Tanks and Bell crank fittings for Control Line Models all have their special challenges.
Covering and Painting techniques are part of the process which ARF does not address.
Some of the construction is beyond me. Composite Gliders for example.
Best leave that to the guys who have done the miles in researching the use these specialized materials.
Although there is great skill in fitting one out and setting it up for successful flight.
In 2012 I was diagnosed with severe cataracts on both my eyes and stopped flying RC.
You dont need to see well to fly C/L. So I continued to fly Combat and Team racing.
2013 Saw me in Royal North Shore with a failing Aortic Valve and a Replacement.
The last few years have been tough.
