I bought a new FMS v8 P-51 Mustang to replace my crashed Corsair. The Corsair was a great plane up until the wing broke apart mid air and upon crashing started a small lipo Fire. My point is that it left a void in my hanger since it was my only 1400mm size plane. I flew my smaller fleet for a few months but really missed something larger. Did some homework and finally settled on a FMS 1450mm P-51.
I had a tough time deciding between a B or D model and it ultimately came down two criteria : Blue nose and weither the custom nose art I was planning would work.
I ended up choosing the D model Petie the 2nd. It had the blue nose , the Petie 2nd logo looked the easiest to change to what i wanted , and had a sliding canopy for the cool factor.
Nose Art:
I wanted to do something different than the handful of mustang schemes that are available. I started searching the Internet, first stop was Callie Graphics. She had a great selection of mustang decal kits but nothing quite fit the bill. I started looking at photos of all different wartime nose art I could find . I had just about given up when I saw the perfect one. "My Achin' Back"
