My "Cuda Para-noia" is alive!!!!! Got a chance to work on it for a bit and got the Motors. ESC's and Servos installed. The first power up of the electronics looks good and everything worked...

The Turnigy 3648-1450 truly is a Beast! The power run shows almost a 80 amp draw and right at 1600 watts. I might have to get a higher C rated battery for this one... Mudman1959

The Turnigy 3648-1450 putting out 1600 watts of power. I had it in the motor mount and locked down in the vise to the point I was afraid it would break the mount. Well as you can see the whole thing started to move in the vice and I quickly chopped the throttle... and that was at half throttle. This motor is a "Beast"!!!! I can't wait until it's mounted in the "Cuda wanna Bee". I should be able to hit "Plaid" speed and skip right past "Ludicrous" speed. Stay tuned for a up coming video of the flight... Mudman1959

Another one from Kevin Matusik... The "Slow Fish" I was looking for a real easy airplane for my Oldest Grand Daughter to learn to fly with. Kevin posted a video of it and it flew great! Slow stable flight with just rudder and elevator controls. The wing is a under camber wing with ribs and polyhedral tips. The fuselage is doubled for strength. Made using Dollar Tree Foamboard covered with vinyl lettering film in my Grand Daughters favorite color... Blue. I think I will put some stick on eyeballs on it and a cartoonish smile. I did add a peice of lite ply in between the layers for a later landing gear addition. I hope to have it finished in the next day or so. Video of the maiden... Soon.

Well another one emerges from the bench... Two planes in two days. This one is for my Grand Daughter who has a Birthday coming up. She asked me a little bit back, "Grandpa... when are you going to build me a airplane?" My reply... "Well I can build one you can throw and glide"... Her response... " No... I want one with a motor and a radio" sooo... the "FT Mighty Mini Sparrow" might just work. I put a mild power system in it and I hope it will be docile enough for her. If not... Well I guess I will have another plane added to the many. Of course I will have to upgrade the power system then and find something else to build for her. This one is a true "One Sheeter" of foam... I Like it!!!

It followed me home... Can I keep it? 29 inches of Winged Awesomeness!!! Planning on powering it with a 2204-2300 kva turning a 6x4 APC prop. Should be a Sky Burner with this set up.

You might remember that last year I made a plane called the "Cuda wanna Bee". It turned out great and flew fantastic! Laine Stahr (Lmopar69) designed it and is producing it as a kit in two different wing sizes.
Well he has designed another plane or should I say a twin... The "Para-Cuda". It is basically the "Cuda" times two. The same wing with an extension in the middle, two fuselages and yes two motors. Once again I had extra foam and decided I needed one... Sooo... The "Cuda Paranoia" emerges from my build bench. It has the same dimensions as my "Cuda wanna Bee" but it is now a conjoined twin. I built the wing in the FT style, it is essentially a "Versa" wing built backwards. The fuselage is double sided for strength and cut to fit and slid over the wing top and bottom. The wing has a aluminum arrow as a spar and some paint stirring sticks tying the three wing panel together. I hope to have ready for the CIFI (Crash in Fly in) in Saranac Mi. for the 4th of July weekend. Looking at dual Turnigy 3648-1450 motors turning 7x5 APC props. Should be interesting!

It's started...
Well I decided to build one... I spent several hours out in my shed freezing but I did manage to get most of it cut out and glued up. Going to have to get a bit warmer here to finish it as the temps are dropping again and the wind is picking up... Desperately waiting for Summer!!!

My old GWS Free Flight P51 Mustang I converted to RC a few years back now has a new look on life. I found the Flite Test Mini P51 on the FT site and decided I needed another small P51. I like the design but the top of the fuselage is just construction paper rolled and glued along with the canopy. This is where the GWS P51 came into the story. I am not one to throw something away unless it's totally useless. The GWS P51 had donated it's electronics to other projects and was just hanging around as a display but when I started the FT P51 I had an idea... Would the top half of the GWS P51 fit the FT P51 if I cut it off. Well the Photo shows that it did. I still need to finish it and paint it and add the stickers. The GWS P51 flew Ok but the foam was way to brittle and after several should I say... "Landings with Style". Well it was decommissioned and assigned "Display Duty" where it did a fantastic job until the other day. The parts that were not used went in the trash bin and the bits and pieces that could were salvaged. I think it will work and the Dollar Tree foamboard should hold up a lot better. I have a small power system in it right now but I think a higher KV motor... say 2300 kva is in it's near future as the power system right now will get it airborne but just that. The P51 was a High Speed, Advanced WW2 Fighter Aircraft and I think it needs more power...

Finished and Flying... My modified FT Mini P-51 with the bottom half and wing and tail being FT and the top half what was leftover from a retired GWS Free Flight P-51. The motor is a 2400 kva Racing motor for a multi rotor from RC Timer turning a 6x4 prop powered by a 850mah 3 cell lipo. It is fast! The RX is a HK 6 channel with stabilization built in... and it works. Video soon when the weather will allow it... Mudman1959

Here is a letter I put together and have sent to my State Senators and Representatives... I am not against Multi Rotors and someday would like to have one. I see this as a issue for all RC Pilots... Be it Airplanes, Helicopters or Multirotors.

Dear Sir or Madam,

Recently the FAA has ruled that my Hobby is now to be regulated. I will now have to register to enjoy my Hobby. What is my Hobby you ask. It is flying RC airplanes. I am a current Member of the AMA (American Modelers Association) and have been for quite a few years. I follow their rules and regulations which state: Visual line of sight, Below 400 feet, Giveaway to any real aircraft, Do not fly within 5 miles of an airport, my airplanes are all marked with my name, address, phone number and AMA number. I am covered by the AMA insurance for any instance that might occur. I feel that we the few... 180,000 + members are being wrongly singled out. To regulate and enforce this FAA Regulation will be impossible and the cost to the tax payers will be phenomenal. The problem is not with the few that do follow the rules but the masses who do not. The ease and availability to acquire should I say a "Drone" or as we call them, Multi Rotors is very easy, sales this year for Christmas will be in the 100 of thousands. They are available everywhere and most are over the half pound minimum weight limit. The Ruling is vague in the description of what needs to be registered. It says "Drones"... Well lets just say when I first saw their videos I was not really impressed. Here was a couple of guys taking nice airplanes and crashing them. To me a plane was a treasured item. I was upset about this... Well let's move the clock forward to present day. I now see where they were going with Flite Test and now have come to enjoy their videos and really enjoy their designs. I used to fly Balsa planes with gas motors and I was never really comfortable with it. I could fly but was always on edge for every flight, afraid I would mess up my plane if I "Landed it with style". Several years back I was introduced into the Electric Foamy World by Flite Test and I have not looked back. Yes I still have my favorite planes but now they are made out of Dollar Tree Foam Board and I am no longer flying on edge. The cost of the airframe is minimal with a short build time. Flight characteristics and flight times are equal to the "Gasser" planes but with no clean up after a day of flying. Yes the initial cost of the batteries is high but when compared to $30 to $40 for a gallon of fuel it balances out quickly. Back to the foam planes... like I said, they are cheap to build and I enjoy building them. I never thought that foam would stand up to my flying abilities. I look back on some of the foamy planes I have built and see an improved progression in my building techniques. My Flite Test collection keeps growing... or I should say... Shrinking as is the case with this "Little" one. It's the Flite Test Mini Sportster. I still need to do the cowl and turtle deck and all of the electrics. Should make a nice indoor flyer for winter.

When I see a plane I like I print out the plans and put them in the "To Build Someday" container. Well this one was next... It is the PT-17 "Stearman" with a 48 inch wingspan. Still lots to do but good progress for today. I cut out the plans, traced them to the DT foamboard and then cut it out and assembled it to the point you see in the Pictures. One like this was given to the guys at Flite Test and they posted the link to the plans...

Help!!!! I can't stop... well not that it is a bad thing. Another plane emerges from the build table. It's the "Explorer" from Flite Test. I built it with the Standard wing and only 3 channel for now. A aileron and flap wing is available and will soon be an additional option for mine. This is Flite Tests Multi design plane as the base fuselage can be used for several different configurations or whatever your imagination can come up with.
