Yep Les Amis,

(36 min 54 sec)

So I sold all my heli, plane, drone and FPV stuff to get into cycling about 7 years ago. Sill heavy into cycling (yeah another expensive hobby) but I'm getting a hip replacement and I'll be off the bike for a while.

So I bought a radio (Jumper T12, before knowing about the OpenTx feud) and a gasser plane (Slick 540). Apparently I have 3 planes stored at a buddy's house, and a guy at the field gave me a couple hanger queens (I also bought the gasser from him).

So I'm well on my way to getting back, even though my surgery is SEVERAL months out.

The pricing on everything is AMAZING compared to when I got out, entry level goggles $40???? No such thing 5 years ago!!

The learning curve is steep though, lol

ZOHD Orbit NEON: Presentation video (5 min 20 sec)

Order Price: $139.99

The 900mm ZOHD Orbit has been around for a while. Her wonderful stability in flight combined with a second to none portability and innovative assembly system makes her one of the most desirable airframes for any FPV lover: Hundreds of wonderful reviews online testify about this fact.

Of course, we could have just revamp her under our very popular MKII format, make it heavier, larger, more complicated to setup… Instead of all of that, we went the other way around: This wing is already tons of fun, how can we take it to the next level, without compromising the fun factor?

Doing it at night!

ZOHD Orbit Neon is the world first snap-n-fly portable FPV wing with built-in LED for night flying. It is easy to hand launch and fly super stable, the Orbit wing is very convenient to carry with because the detachable main wing can be assembled easily by plugs, meanwhile the new crash absorption system will save the plane even in a hard crash. The built-in servo structure makes the airfoil more aerodynamic and avoid damage even in a crash.

With ZOHD Orbit Neon you can have countless ours of fun. Just picture this: Turning off the LED system, will give you a super capable FPV wing, to fulfill all your expectations in first person view action. Now the sun is going down? No Problem! Turn on...Continue Reading

Test Flight #3 - Volantex Super Cub Flaperons - It's all Good ;-)

Here is a link to the Video:

Time to test the Super Cub MOD we performed by replacing the single 9g Servo with two 4.4g Servos and programming Flaperons.
After needing some significant adjustment and repair of the Landing Gear it's ready for Takeoff ;-)

The amount of Flaps I have is 10mm from the top of the Aileron to the top of the Wing.
The amount of Up Elevator Trim is 3mm.

Here is a link to Test Flight #2 that didn't end well:

Here is a link to the Tutorial for installing the Servos and Linkages:

Back in 2010, I was lucky enough to review this model on behalf of RCG. Great model which, unfortunately, met an untimely demise shortly after this review was published.

Fast forward to mid-2019 for a partial return of this model to operating status, namely the engine, power switch and spinner.

The engine I got with this castoff sport plane was too large; I blogged about it not long ago and I posted its photo from that blog below.

What did it take to get this model back on the cusp of flying once more?

-The O.S. Max AX 46, glow plug and muffler from the P-40. No cost.
-A new/old Great Planes adjustable motor mount which I already had on hand. No cost.
-The newly repaired heavy duty power switch from the P-40; it had some torn wires at the receiver plug. No cost.
-The Great Planes spinner from the P-40. No cost.
-A new/old 11x6 Master Airscrew propeller given to me along with the model. No cost. Even the factory safety warning sticker was intact.
-Fuel tubing. Mere pennies.
-Mounting hardware. $2.89 from Ace Hardware.

The Thunder Tiger fuel tank which came with the model was in fine shape and only needed a new klunk line.

A new slanted fuel tank is waiting at the hobby shop for installation into the Rat Clanger. That'll make it model number five returned to operational status for very little money and only a bit of time. Flight report and updated photos to follow; I'm told it's a big, lazy and fun flyer with its 6' wingspan. We'll soon see!

My next project might be a long dormant, kit-built Great Planes Ultimate biplane, given to me with minor crash damage and originally set up as an electric. No telling which end was up; the wings have the same pattern top and bottom! I repaired the damaged landing gear a few years back, I have the parts to finish the build, so why not? A good, used K&B Screaming 48 purchased from a friend might go onto that firewall. Haven't flown that engine yet!

1) My 1.5 meter DLG from China ( Ebay Purchase ) is ready for Chucking
2) The R4 has begun , and the wing is made from 3mm Depron sheet much like the R3 . Only this time the span is around 700mm and there is a carbon ( spar ) , so it can be a true DLG
3) The weather still blows ( it's windy and at times raining ) Blue sky as I look out the window , but another windy day ( Yesterday was gale force )
4) My car stopped working for a week , I thought the fuel pump had died , but the car had simply flooded . And it took over 30 minutes to get it started with roadside assist here with a heavy duty jump starter .
5) I did buy another 1.5 meter DLG which arrived during the week . ( It was a un used kit - not sure how many years old - but the price was right ) Amazing how people want top $$ for old damaged gliders . ( That DLG shortage in Oz )
6) Ordered a kit from GB , they sure have jerked me around with it . Once I get my refund , ill just have to buy the kit from a Ebay seller .

Hopefully today , I will find the time and inclination to sand the R4 wing , then glass the middle ( join ) and iron on some 10 thou laminating film . Once the wing is completed I can start on the tail / boom / fuse . ( Yeah , that's sort of the order I do on a new build ) = R4 wing in more detail !
