The fuselage is prinTED and I have mixed feelings about it .

Fuse 01 = 26.8 grams ..
A) Came out of the printer OK , looks ok ! The tabs used for joining Fuse 01 to Fuse 02 are fragile and under engineered . Pictured is carbon rod re-enforcement . The bottom tabs have already broken off . Fuse 01 is strong , really strong .
B) There are certain design flaws aside from the weak joining tabs . The motor .. Has to go in before you glue the fuse and then what ? If the screws come lose how do you tighten them after assembly ? Obviously you need to break the damned thing .
C) Weight . Cant get past the fact that there is a lot of weight here for good or bad .

Fuse 02 = 17.7 grams
A) Little to complain about here , possibly the best thought out part

Fuse 03 = 18 grams
A) Seriously strong , possibly overly engineered and heavy for it's size .

Fuse 04 = 20.3 grams
A) Porky Pig .. Again I think over engineered and seriously over weight .
B) The joining tab is way short , this is a design flaw ( in my opinion ) and creates a weak point .
C) ???? I dont know about the tail section ...

Over all , it's probably the most refined model out there for free . ( Printable ) But if we do the maths
26.8 + 17.7 + 18 + 20.3 = 82.8 grams ..

And thats just the Fuse ...
I dont think I have a motor that can fit and pull a house brick at the moment .
Sort of Ho humming continuing , but I think I have to ..
Pictured = I fitted a small motor and folding prop , but they only do about 150 grams thrust as a combo .
To fly this safely , I would assume at least a minimum of 250 grams of thrust ..
If this really has a projected weight of 450 grams .. Thats a lot of weight .
I think you want it a lot lighter than that . But you may need a lot of motor to compensate for the heavy ass on this plane ( CG )

This is the maiden flight of the Precision Aerobatics Katana MX. Unfortunately, the maiden got cut short due to weather, but hey at least I know it flies.

If you're fan of Tundra/Bush plane/STOL scale flying, you may be wondering about various tire/wheel sizing & weight. What follows is a summary of some of the tires that I've tested to date.

For context, here are the full scale Alaskan Bushwheel options and the corresponding scale measurements

First steps in 2014

Pic 5660cr

After flying indoor toy helicopters for a while I desired to purchase a serious secondhand helo to fly outdoors. Jan 2014 my eyes fell on an electro scale Hugues 500E in unattractive Danish Army colors, completely ready to fly and equipped with a Helicommand Rigid ground and air stabilizer, plus five 6S3300 batteries. I trusted that my skills with the Blade 120 and like, augmented by the quality stability system, would be sufficient to get it in the air to teach myself. The deal was concluded and after coming home I knew the first thing I wanted to do was to transvestite it into the colors of the famous Hugues 500D that was used in every episode op the worldwide popular eighties television series: Magnum. As painting gloss yellow over matte dark green would be very difficult, I opted to cover it in vinyl and purchased lengths of yellow, orange and brown. I couldn’t refrain from first making a picture of my acquisition next to a Blade 130X helicopter that I hand-painted as a German police BO105 instead of the omnipresent Red-bull dress-up.

I quickly regretted my decision to work with vinyl, applying parallel angled stripes shoulder to shoulder over angled and double-curved surfaces proved very challenging but I never gave up. In the end I started by first using see-through paper that I pushed in place hugging the surfaces, then marked where the previous strip ended, put the paper flat on the table and drew a new...Continue Reading

I recently bought a RadioMaster TX16s and upgraded this old foamie to use a FRSky receiver. I had towed the flag many years ago. This was an old EPP plane that Hobby Lobby imported. It's a 40" wing span and uses a 480 Eflite motor.

My 3D printer has been idle for some time so I thought it was time to do that 3D printed plane thing .
Problem is , finding something that I want to print . Is going to be small and light enough to play with .
And no such animal exists !

I downloaded a lot of planes off Thingiverse , but most are incomplete . ( Not ready to print ) = This is the one I am printing out !
Completed fuse 01 last night , and am doing fuse 02 now . ( 74% complete )

Will see ...

Wingspan: 720 mm (920 mm when using Big Wing version)
Length: 578 mm
Est. weight: 450 g ( A little Porky Pig ) and is that flying weight or prinTED weight ?
CG: 26 mm

HI All,

After hours spent over my work bench, doing builds, I have suffered for years.
I don’t know if you suffer from back pain or not.
But I just released a book on DIY back pain relief.

I’m trying to get the word out about the book.
It's my way of giving back to the communities that have supported
my hobby addictions for years.

I know there are lot of people who have suffered like I did.
It could really help them, as the techniques did for me.

Please, if you could share with your email lists.

I would really appreciate it.

This is my first book, being released through Smashwords. On the Summer sale at 50% off,
if you have back pain or know someone who does, please grab a copy. “Back Pain, DIY Pain Relief”

I found ways to mitigate my pain, and am sharing what I found that works.

Be Safe
