Ok so I've been flying my Orion for months with no issues at all
Today in a steep dive i saw and heard the tail fluttering pretty violently. I've never had this issue and it seems to get worse . I checked every thing and all seems tight with no cracks. Any advice rhyme or reason. I thought these planes were made for speed which is why I bought it. I'm going to buy the energic e cause I know it's much faster and can thermal. But I would like to correct this issue before I sell the plane. I thank you for any thoughts on this subject.

Classic QQ 3D Yak 54 -73", E-Power and ready for maiden.

Picked up a veteran airframe from fellow RCG member, sat on the project line for a while and is now re-born and ready for maiden. I am hopeful this E powered conversion performs as well as the fuelies did. Tips the scale a 13.9 lbs.

EF 160, Castle 120 HV, Castle HV Connectors,10S 5000mAH, APC 19 x 8W Propeller.

Cant wait for next weekend!

Super Scale 700 Apache (4 min 25 sec)

yes the reason I got a heli was the way a heli moves through the air and looks ...but to be honest the only heli I've ever said oooo that's lovely ,drooled over etc the apache ,also being a lover of wolves I see them as the flying equivalent will defo need to get an rc one day

Went flying this morning :
I took my WLToys 959 ( Bound to my i10 )

My brother got himself a MJX X102H ..
So here are my thoughts ..
1) I really dont like the inverted propellers ( With good reason )
2) Headless mode was problematic - For some reason I would be flying and suddenly the controls would reverse .. ( Strange )
3) Probably a great beginner quad ( Stable ) , but it was really hard to try and get it to perform ( Mild hot dogging )
4) Over all I became very bored with the X102H after about 1/4 battery .

What I like .. Push the button to lift off , push the button to land .. ( Good for those starting )
Very stable , and easy to fly . ( Would most likely be a good camera platform )
Good flight time .

Anyhow , my brother was in headless mode and suddenly he said he lost control ( I think the controls reversed on him ) and he was forced to land in some long grass ...

Well two motors smell like they are burned out as a result ..
I asked him to open up the X102H before assuming it's just the motors ..
The reversed propellers look like they will be a pain as far as long grass etc goes . ( Not a fan )

Oh well !
My 959 flew rather well , I had no issues ( was relatively calm ) ..
I may have to bump the rates to get it to fly a little hotter ..

After the first test of stock E010, Chaoli CL-615 and Upgraded Chaoli CL615 motors thrust with the stock 4-balde propeller, I've decided to test the stock propellers, cut down to 2-bladed props. Results were as expected - the max thrust decreased while effectiveness increased. You can clearly see it in the charts. Pull thrust decreased 0.5g in average or 5% and effectiveness increased 0.22g/W in average or about 10%.
So cutting down 2 blades out of 4 wil give you a bit less thrust, but better effectiveness thus longer flight times.

Eachine E010, Chaoli CL-615 and Upgraded Chaoli CL-615 motors 2 blade propeller thrust test (1 min 0 sec)

Also ordered Kados insane, Racerstar 59000RPM motors. Will be making tests with them.

Well... airbot did it again. They released this really cool AIO board (including PDB and OSD) for micro quads which are really nice for flying at home in the winter. I finally found time to take a first look at it and I think I'll design a 3D printed frame around this cool flight controller because I currently have no idea which frame would fit the 25mmx25mm (mounting holes) board.

You know, it's funny re-reading my first blog posts from a year ago. Here we are in January and that makes it a year of heli forum posting and 14 months from first picking up a transmitter. Ever.

As previously stated, I started with 3 channel, co-axial 'toys', thinking I was the business because I could circle my front room without hitting anything. Now, with a considerably lighter wallet, I'm ragging my Blade 180CFX, 230S and Master CP across the skies, here in South East Scotland. I say 'ragging', I actually mean 'careful circuits and nervous thumb-twitching', but still, it's a bigger leap than I ever thought possible.

There's been a host of flying friends in my life, who've made a brief appearance then exited as quick as they arrived:

DH9053 Volitation - big, horrible co-ax that gets everything you can think of wrong. Too big indoors and pointless outdoors. Pointless, period.
V912 x2 - flybar nastiness, but great orientation tool.
V913 - big, slow bus with blade strikes you can hear in the next town.
V911 x3 - fantastic, invincible little training birds. Everyone should have one in their hangar.
Blade 130X (waaaay too soon for that baby!)
FX071 x2 (one lost and one sold)

Still here:

Blade 230S - super-friendly in stability mode/high rate, yet easily fast enough to keep complacency away.
Blade 200SRX - special mention to this bird as she was my first 'proper' machine and literally every single part has been replaced multiple times.
Master CP - rebuilt...Continue Reading
