Today was basically a travel day. We headed over to Coyote Hobbies and Fry's for parts as we hit Portland, then headed south down I-5 to Rt 34/20 and proceeded to the Oregon coast. We hit the coast at Florence, then went to Yaquina Head to check out the lighthouse. After a long "slog" down the coast we reached Bandon (our motel) around 7pm and decided it was too late to continue down to Cape Blanco that night.

After grabbing breakfast, supplies and water we headed out to Lumber to try out today's air. Everyone was pretty exhausted after the walk up to the slope. Unfortunately the air was very weak and we barely able to hang unless we encountered a lift band.
Tom got adventerous and wandered off to the two neighboring slopes, North and South of Lumber. He finally found the Northern one was much better and we actually got some great slopeing in on this section.
Before the day was up, we tried out a another new slope on the "backside" of Rowena View. It was located in a narrow Canyon that empties into the Columbia on the West side of Rowena's parking lot. I believe it's called McCall's Nature preserve.

Enjoy the pic's!

Well boys and girls it's that time again. Our annual trip (pilgrimage) to Oregon began today. Mike (Miami Mike), DJ (Dangerous James), Tom T and myself headed out of Fort Lauderdale on SouthWest and arrived in Portand this afternoon. We picked up a GMC Terrain and GMC Acadia and headed straight for Hood River (HR). Unfortunately, there was a 15mph wind on the Columbia River, but on the hilltops (Windago and Lumber) there was nothing. Too make up for our windless day, we met Trees and FlaFlyer at a local White Salmon Bar. After going through a couple micro-brew sampler packs we headed back to the hotel to lick our wounds.

Saturday was hot and brutal. Winds were supposed to be out of the South but ended up being out of the West and almost non-existant at that. Obviously we were flying electrics or hand launch. Tom and I wanted to test out our slopers one last time before our Oregon trip. That wasn't going to happen......although Tom tried a few tosses with his rebuilt Moth 60.
