Without doubt this is the best entry level AP quad I have tested.!
After flying....
Bloody hell, I need to eat some hat here lol This thing is tons of fun ! it even beats my favourite Bugs B2. Testing the camera and RTH features today the quad landed within inches of its launch position consistently ! even when a low power RTH was initialised ( because i was enjoying myself ) the 906 landed inches away from were it took off. Honestly im gobsmacked literally lost for words.

I havent edited the video, no cuts no smoothing, cropping etc for no other reason than so you could can view it in its raw format and make your own mind up . There is some pixelation but that could be my phone or the WiFi connection or some other factor but i will get the Samsung S8 back tomorrow and will take more video as i test the 906 in a more enclosed environment that has a lot of WiFi noise from various houses and their devices. Now that i know the RTH and other GPS features work PERFECTLY i am more secure in the knowledge that should something go wrong the 906 will RTH exactly were it should.

There is a new (kind of) kid in the park... and with park I mean the 4K cameras that do that at 60fps which is kind of what I consider the best of both worlds... 60fps just makes footage stay sharp even at speed and 4K just looks super delicious on screens that can support it... and if they don't (4K and/or)60fps) it scales down without any "loss"

SJCAM SJ8 Pro 4K 60fps Action Camera

So let's unbox it

I like how the black one looks! And it feels solid

one button on top, let's call it the record button and a little lcd in the front...

Through Facebook Marketplace I bought a Hawker Tempest by Airfield that has 800mm wingspan (31”). It’s a foamie and my first warbird. It was practically a barn find being covered in grime. The Tx came with it and one 1300 3S lipo. There was no wing bolt. Nothing more, but acceptable for just $25.

The seller was upfront that the motor didn’t work. However, my LHS discovered that the throttle setting switch had been reversed. And I later discovered that the 3mm motor mount screw was missing.

After cleaning off grime with a few drops of dishwashing liquid in a bowl of water, it cleaned right up. I etched the panel lines in a pencil and removed the guided bombs under the wings. Lightweight sparkling filled in the divots left where the bombs had been stuck to the wing. I painted over the splotches with flat Testors enamel paints.

I hope to fly it when I resolve CG issues that make a tip over on throttle up.

My P-51B plans dont call for an exhaust stack, so I had to invent one. Scale was tricky to get. However, the 5 x 3/4 size was derived by measuring my 1/48 scale plastic model and doing some math. And there are six pipes on each side.

I made the first draft by stacking and gluing strips of balsa. Then I drew half-inch circles on the wood 1/4 apart. I then used a reamer to hand-drill the exhaust ports by hand. I drilled these at about a 45 degree angle. I sanded, filled with lightweight spackling, and painted silver. Ill weather it later.

To make the pipes, I cut 12 sections of a 1/16 thick black hose about 1/2 in diameter. I dry brush painted silver fading to the black. Then I cut out 1/8 rings from a 1/2 diameter thin plastic rod. I painted them flat black. I glued the rings on the end of the hose and inserted them into the base.

UPDATE: reworked the design. Painted base olive drab flat green and the pipes are from a window shade rod. Theyre painted flat black. Much more scale.

I purchased a 2.2 meter wood ARF drone from UncleGeorge here on RCGroups classifieds . I had been watchig it for awhile and when he lowered the price down to $99 I made the purchase . The first Issue I noticed was the over all light grey covering . Not good for overcast days or these 73 year old eyes ! I bumped up the outrunner size to a 60 size . Gets off the ground easily and climbs out with authority . The recommended CG is 70mm from the wings leading edge . It required two 5S 5000 mah LiPos to balance it at that measurement ! The batteries weigh 44 ounces ! I'm going to move the CG point back 1/8" at a time until it slows down and weighs less than it does . I also flew my Mistral ( 120" ) powered sailplane ( scratchbuilt ) . The Mistral and Drone both had their first flights this past Thursday , May 9 . The drone was very fast and the Mistral has a Dutch roll issue which I suspect is caused by two things . Not enough washout in the wingtips and way too much rudder throw , both easily fixed !
I have also been flying my double size Ambroid Jetstream powered sailplane . It was originally an A-1 towline glider from the 1960's . I actually took third place at a freeflight contest in Taft, California in 1977 with it . I upset the purests because I covered the flying sufaces with Monokote ! Anyway , I enlarged the plans to 100 inches and added an outrunner and radio control to the rudder and elevator . It has a lifting stab and undercambered airfoil on the wing which puts the cg at almost 60% of the wing's cord . Like all my planes I take the time to continuously make improvments until I get a great flying plane .

I am having an issue with betaflight where i cant see any Modes. Betaflight locks up and will not respond to any functions including chosing other options.

cant tell whats happening here. no matter what i do including flashing hardware it gives me a null screen only showing arm and no other information. also the range field will not populate.

Hi I am using Flysky Fs-i6x with Frsky R9M module connected wia ppm signal and R9 Rx. All channels working fine, but I don't get failsafe to work. I have set failsafe on Flysky Fs-i6x, but it seems not passed to R9M, no telemetry or vbat. Any ideas please 🙂

Things just dont last The original garage door in this 62 house started falling apart on me. (No, I didnt acquire it when I was 10, we bought it in 91.) It was a traditional four panel design with glass at eye level. It was pretty heavy. The glass had been painted over before we got it but that just provided privacy, the infrared light came right through and it could be very hot but it worked well enough. Until the end of April.

I had just unloaded from a day at the field and went to shut the door. About 3/4 of the way down it jammed. When I pushed a little harder, the bottom ripped off. Time for a new garage door. Before that could be done, I had to clear out the back half of my shop. All airplanes were moved to the TV room or stored in my minivan. The building board were covered boxes and tools.

It took a while to coordinate time with my son-in-law but we ( and by we I mostly mean him) got a new door installed. I got an insulated four panel from Lowes. Its much lighter than the old door and the insulation is a godsend. It may be spring but a west facing garage door gets hot pretty easy.

This is my busy travel season but I finally managed to get everything back in order and working on models again. Besides putting in a new door, I have also been doing some rearranging to get more useful space that had been lost to, essentially, inertia.
