I haven’t posted a blog for quite a while. I will be listing a lot of things for sale soon. I had a a heart attack earlier this year, and just haven’t been able to enjoy the hobby any longer. It’s been a chore to get to the field, and haven’t enjoyed being there. I’m going to list what is shippable, and try to sell larger items locally.

I will be listing a couple things at a time,

A couple of years ago I won a Thunderbug 120 kit on EBay.

I decided to build it for next year, right now it is basically framed up, and ready for final sanding of the main structure.

It is going to have an Evolution 26GX gas engine and metal gear tower servos.

Some of the mods:

Two piece wing with CF wing tube

Widened the fuselage so the engine and muffler will be fully enclosed, and nothing will protrude from it.

Clipped the wing a bit

Adding a great planes Sportster 60 canopy.

Hangar 9 30cc stick landing gear.

Made wingtips instead of the plates

And made the turtle deck include the fin, plans show that stops at the stabilizer flat,

So it should be a more pleasing looking plane than stock.

Still working on the color scheme.

Here are two color ideas

Finally finished, hopefully maiden it this week

Here is a real cute ace 4-20 I maidened today. I got the kit on eBay earlier this year. I got it at a nice price. However once I opened it the person had built the kit with the original parts, and cut a partial new kit. The seller refunded a fair amount so I kept it.

After looking it over and pondering it I decided to build it. I had to make new stab and elevators, one fuse side, the cowl parts, and many more.

But I got it finished and maidened, flies great with a 25 size electric with a 3 cell lipo.

Also a pic of my inverza with dle 30

I have wanted to build one of these for a while, this winter I got a kit on rcgroups.
It's going to have a rimfire 46 with 4 cell lipo. I have a 3" turbo cool spinner, and adjusted the nose to accommodate.

Balsa USA kits build fast , the fuse Picts are after two evenings. Most of the first evening was planning the electric conversion,,

You can see that these are built with a lot of block balsa, and the shape to suite your vision,

Since I'm going electric, I cut lightening holes in the rear fuse. And I hollowed the large cowl block. It should be well below 5 pounds, hopeful around 4.

I cut the firewall so cooling air will pass the motor battery and I will have an exit out the back.

Hopefully tomorrow I can start the wings.

I got a good start on the wings, , it will be a few days before I will be back on it.

Al right, it is ready for final sanding and assembly, it is at 1.5 pounds with out covering and electronics. It should really scoot with the 46 rimfire

Maidened it tonight, flew great!!!

Way more than enough power, I think the 32 would be best, flew around 1/2 throttle the whole time...Continue Reading

Put four great flights on it today. First flight checked stall characteristics and trimmed, following flights put it through some paces.
Flies like a perfect uproar, great flying plane!!!

Added pictures of it next to my 40 size Uproar!

Hi,

After flying my 40 size on electric last fall, I was thinking on going bigger. I have the 60 kit, but it was too small for the 26 gx that I have and wanted to use.

So I designed a 70" span and went from there.

It has two piece wings with aluminum tube joined, plywood fuse
And a sig 14" canopy, looks like it will be around 11-12 pounds all up.

I'll post more pictures as I start covering it. Just need final sanding

I attached the color scheme, metallic teal and white with charcoal and purple.

Added some more pictures

A few weeks ago Tower had the Uproar kit on sale for 39.99. Couldn't pass it up.

Last week we had very windy conditions all week, and storming when not windy. So I looked around the parts bin, and covering stock, and realizing I had everything to put this together. So I started Monday night, got the rail surfaces built, and a good start on the fuse. Started the wing Tuesday night.. And by Thursday I was final sanding. I used digital metal gear servos out of my crashed splendor, the Esc out of the splendor. And a 40 size electric motor I had laying around. It will use a 4 cell lipo.

I covered it in metallic wine, white. And used kiwi and black sign vinyl to finish. Balanced perfectly. And weighs less than 4 pounds with flight battery. Of course it is still too windy to fly, but is supposed to calm down this week.

After several successful flights, this one was damaged beyond repair from some failed hand launches.

But since it flew pretty good, I have decided to make a larger one. It will be powered by a 91 4 cycle proped for speed, have a landing trolley that releases at take off, then belly land. I though about retracts, but on a grass field, and wanting to keep as light as possible, the dolly will be the choice.

It will be around 55" long and the wingspan hasn't been decided yet, I think I will slightly extend it, and move it forward slightly to make up for all of the engine and nose weight.

All of the batteries and servos will be in the tail, and am hoping to light a D sized estes in flight.

I got the tail built up, and the formers cut, It will be built in a top half and a bottom half, and the fin will be glued to all of the formers.
I will update as progrress is made.
