Hi all, and welcome to other conversion/migration story

Having a damaged Hitec Eclipse 7 gathering dust for some months, which was diagnosed as faulty processor, I thought to give her a chance, it is a shame for hardware quality that was there, and case look and feel, a great success of its time.

After measured and assessed all aspects involved in conversion, I took courage and, about a month ago, the last days of the year, started the "slaughtering" that ended these days, happy ended, the result you can see in the attached images.

For conversion was used a recently appeared board, not having yet time to gain the popularity it deserves, designed as a directly plug and play upgrade for the popular FlySky 9X, and which was designed to transform a 9X basically into a 9XRPro, should I dare to say Taranis ? , for an ultra competitive price of $30 only.
The board is called AR9X, and although I was among the 10 beta testers, I have not named her so, do not think that the board name comes from my initials
Unlike boards like Taranis or 9XRPro, which could have been used for this conversion, besides price, which is half, it was designed by a mind open to experiments, with greater extensibility than the other boards made for somewhat closed radios. A look at the macro level on board revealing dozens of additional connection points for supplemental devices which can further expand the board capabilities, like switches, pots, gyro / accel, gps, rotary encoder,...Continue Reading

My current contract will end at the end of this year and I decided to make a twist of my career from IT, to anything else, RC as first option.

If anyone has an open position, or have an idea of a revolutionary product, but lack knowledge and/or funds, I am open to anything.

Please, contact me by e-mail for further discussions.

Will start here the build log of what I would like to be for me the best radio I can imagine, with available technology, of course.

The case used in the project is of an ancient, less known radio, having an incredible build quality for the money it could cost if you are lucky to find it somewhere for sale.
I wouldn't call it vintage, because it still looks very modern, built like a tank on an Aluminum frame, with masking parts from plastic. Once again, it is very rare, you can find much more easy a 70s Kraft than this radio model.
I hope this intro make you curious enough to start a two days quiz, based on some pictures will post below. The quiz will end when someone will guess the radio model, or Monday, if nobody guess.
More details about this radio after the quiz.

The electronics, well, probably for them most of you are here... this radio will host the electronic of the coming and long awaited first radio of Frsky company, code named X9D, release name to be announced later

Spent the last days measuring everything to be sure there will be nothing mechanical to stop me finish the project, and now I am more confident... will be completed !

Will resume tomorrow with some board pictures and first questions about Frsky electronics. Good luck guessing
